QPR stun Wolves with three-goal show - QPR FC - Sport - Fulham Chronicle Premiership Wolves 0 QPR 3 QPR put in a stunning performance to win 3-0 at Wolves this afternoon after stunning their hosts with two goals in the opening seven minutes. Shaun Derry had home keeper George Hennessey at full stretch inside the first minute with a header from Adel Taarabt's cross which was bound for the top keeper before the Wolves number one tipped it over. But after seven minutes, Rs were in front when a Shaun Wright-Phillips played a long deep cross back across the face of goal where Joey Barton (pictured) did not make the cleanest of connections, but it was enough to sneak past Hennessey. And they were in dreamland just two minutes later when the home defence only half-cleared, the ball falling kindly for Alejandro Faurlin to smash home from just outside the area. There was a warning for Rs four minutes later when wounded Wolves pushed forward and Karl Henry struck the outside of Paddy Kenny's left hand post, seconds after the hosts had a penalty shout turned down. Wright-Phillips then had an effort comfortably saved by Hennessey after springing the offside trap, while down at the other end, Stephen Ward should really have scored from a Jamie O'Hara cross but header over under pressure. Armand Traore almost joined Barton in opening his Rs account following a jinking run from midfield into the penalty box, but was stopped by a last-ditch Christophe Berra tackle. Adel Taarabt also had an effort blocked in the area following a lovely exchange of passes with Barton, who himself fired just wide from the edge of the area soon after. In comparison to the first half, the second was short on goalmouth action as Wolves got more into the game, and the closest anyone came after the break was when Wright-Phillips struck the post with a real belter with 10 minutes left. That was until sub DJ Campbell put the icing on the cake by making it 3-0 with a minute left, being left with a tap in inside the penalty area from Traore's cross.
Joeys latest tweets AFTER the game I bet u Kelvin Henry feels like an idiot again today. He should just keep his trap firmly shut. #sundayleagueplayer "Wolves snubbed me" I read in this morning papers hahahahahaha....don't know what Mick's been smoking......#hesoffhisbarnet #porkypies
Joey7BartonJoseph Barton Great save by Hennessey from paul the alien @greypeacock he was away to celebrate.....haha swp29Shaun W-Phillips How bout ur freekick lad @Joey7Barton I was in tears on the pitch Even lil Shaun ripping into Joey for that weak free kick!
Well that was a bit good. Traore shows all the potential to be the next Ashley Cole. Whatever you think of Cole, he's a fantastic left back. I thought Newcastle just had an off day. But Wolves too? Is it really our good fortune? Wolves weren't great today and got punished 3-0 at home for it, but I'd fancy us to beat them even if that had turned up. Almost man for man I think we're better than Wolves. They don't have anyone that can deal with SWP, Taarabt, Barton and Faulin or trouble Ferdinand, Young and Traore. Gabbs and Kenny were solid today, but really didn't have that much to do. Bothroyd is the perfect foil for Taarabt and SWP and had a great game today. He's unlikely to score 10+ goals this season, but that's not his role in the team. But SWP and Taarabt are. The Fox Sports Soccer commentators had Wolves as a mid-table to European places team before the game. By the end they said Wolves were going to struggle to stay up. Amazing how their season changed in the space of 90 mins. IMO, Wolves are still a decent team and their milk hasn't soured overnight. QPR have upped their game and are at the same level or better. Newcastle also looked good for their point at Villa today. Did QPR really get lucky and meet Wolves and Newcastle on off-days or should we start to believe we are good enough to expect to beat them both? I'm biased of course and on still on a bit of a high, so forgive me if I sound too optimistic. I wont jinx us by making any outlandish predictions. But I wonder what our odds are for a mid-table finish? COYRs

A daily mail journo (Neil Ashton) on Twitter thinks Joey could get a minimum 3 match ban for his twitter remarks 'for bringing game into disrepute as the FA compliance department have already warned him'. Remembering Nellys reaction when some of our players had a go at the sewer rat on twitter after the Mackie incident he might not be overly happy. Not that I rate the Daily Mail or anything within it but I hope Joey keeps his tweets to less obvious insults at other players...although it's still funny.
Glad to see DJ Campbell score today as i knew he would if he got on for more than a few minutes. He will score 15-20 goals a season for us in this team if he gets to actually start for us. A great team performance and 3 pts none the less and I dont think we are to far off having one of the top 10 midfields in the country.
