It's some niche injury called something like "athletes toe". It's soft tissue damage to the base of the toe and if you're really unlucky it could be recurrent. It's very painful to run or turn on (given that our toes are the most important part for acceleration). If it's recurrent, it can then threaten your career. I think it's one of those injuries where they still don't know exactly how to cure it every time. This obviously makes it quite difficult to be sure it will get better. I very much doubt that RvW is perma-crocked, but all I'm saying is that this rumour has probably got about because someone has realised that it's a possibility and the injury is worse than it initially sounded.
Turf toe? If it is that its really not that serious. Where has it been said that is the injury? Hardly the worst injury in the world.
Wikipedia: Turf Toe Fairly sure this rumour will be someone reading that page, noticing it has potential to be career-threatening, and combining that with the length of the absence to decide RvW will never play for us again.
It's turf toe and I think this all stems from the fact that the Wikipedia page states that it can be career threatening. Supposedly he's been training all week and joined the team on Friday. Doubt he would have gotten that far if he weren't capable if running. If he can do a week of training then he should be in contention for next weekend. I still think this wouldn't have taken so long if we had rested him as soon as he was injured, we pushed him to continue until hooper was fit again.
Almost all injuries could be career threatening if not treated correctly, but that is why all clubs have a big medical team to look after them. A twisted ankle can takes 6-12 months to recover fully but you generally would not consider it likely to end a career.
and spellchecking? Apologies - I didn't mean it rudely. Out of interest (and feel free not to answer, because I know people like to keep things private) what is your area?
This woud be my first choice 11 if all match fit ,maybe Hoolahoops instead of RVW. Fer was wasted playing on the left.
What a load of sh1te. If his injury was career ending, and he is back in training so it would seem that this is not the case, then it would be an insurance job, not for the club to pay of his contract. Just some bored a55hole trying to be clever/scaremongering/fishing for credulous idiots.
Morisons wife and Tierney = Wolfswinkel will never play for us again. We have some sick people that claim to support this club.
there's an article on the pink un / edp with CH talking about ricky returning for the xmas games. he decided to leave him out of the squad for sunday because hooper and elmander have been playing well
