Defence is bloody hopeless! No doubt, they're a good side but bloody hell, we are crap. Must say that Maynard and Le Fondre are really giving it a go when they get a chance.
Front two look good, Fabio done brilliant for the goal he was a bit slow in defence early on but doing well now. The two C's in the middle of defence way out of it though Championship players won't be as good as Wolfsburg. Very lucky to be 2-2
Why is Cala playing? He's suspended from the Blackburn game. No Mutch so he's on his way. Defence still a major problem. I wonder if OGS knows his best side yet? Somehow I doubt it.
First half impressions>>>> Apart from Maynard and Le Fondre, a team put on the park by Ole that looks like they've just been introduced to each other this afternoon. No cohesion at the back whatsoever, and a midfield of Gunnar, Kimbo, Burgstaller and Whitts that has quality but are being severely tested by a better quality Wolfsburg set up. Up front there's plenty of movement from Maynard and Le Fondre (the one redeeming thing so far), and I think they'll trouble many a defence with the right service - at the moment, they ain't getting it. Whitts has all the ability to set these guys up, but he needs someone alongside him to put his foot on the ball and bloody well hold it for more than half a nanosecond!
That can't be our first choice defence, Cala banned for the first two games and Connolly shouldn't be starting. Worrying that he probably will start against Blackburn as Turner is injured. Looking good going forward but lacking width, had to rely on Fabio to get forward for the second goal when really that should be what the wingers are doing. Be interesting to see what changes Ole makes if any at half time.
Harris coming on. Be good to get a look at him, think he could play a big part next year if Ole uses him.
harris had an ok game so far couple of decent balls in could be a real threat next year think he's better than that zaha lad we had on loan last year..... harris and Jones could be quite the partnership, jones up top harris whipping them in.... i might be crazy here but im backing kenwyne to get 20goals+ this season...
think you might be crazy as I don't see Jones getting enough game time to get 20. I think we'll have several players in double figures, but Ole will keep switching things around. Jones will be the impact player but will start less than half our games. La Fondre and Guerra look to give us something we've not had in a while, a good first touch. Plenty of positives from today's game. After a shaky 20 mins the defence looked OK, would prefer better, but OK. Whitts looked back to his best, Burgstaller looked pretty good and Eikrem made a difference when he came on. Maynard looked good and the thing that was very different from the last few seasons is the number of bodies we got in the box. Kim's goal was a tap in but he was in the box with others. Quite often when crosses came in the were people on front and back post. The defence could let us down, but getting goals wins matches. Hopefully the rumour of 2 new centre backs is correct though. Still waiting for the clear out.
Well could have been worse against a side playing Europe next season. Defense a big problem. Whatever ever you think of Mackay at least he had that part down to a tee in the Championship
