is it worth having a go for jermaine beckford he has gone back to the team we dont mention, i would reckon they would be happy to get him loaned out, done ok at this level before. only real prob i personally see is he is with nigal pearsons bum boys and he came from leeds
He could walk away from them in 6 months, if we signed him, it would obviously be on at least a 3 year deal, or 3.5, he's younger than DJ so would be worth that bit extra IMO.
id much rather pay the 1m needed to get ebanks-blake, very good at championship level and only 26 so could easily recoup the money if we manage to get to the prem and he isnt needed
To be fair, he can finish. But that is all he can do. At Leeds he'd have a goal scoring chance fed to him once or twice a game and he'd take them. So maybe he'd be O.K. for you. Same with Leicester but it's difficult to give him that chance and him having the desire to be able to get on the end of it at this level where defenders won't give you space, such is his lack of workrate. I've seen ****ing sloths that work harder than him.
Can't see Lichester loaning us anyone no matter how bad they would be. He might suddenly up his game to piss off NP.
He's succeeded at two clubs in his whole career (which is bad when people call him a journeyman and is 31). I would't be that happy to be honest.
And this season, he scored 10 goals in 17 games so I'm not sure any team in the league would be against having someone who would do that for them in the last 17 games of the season.
what is the situation with fryatt has he any chance of coming back this season at all or is he completely written off, i do realise its pointless mentioning fryatt but was just interested as dont know how long they have said. Also does anyone know how long he is signed for, will next season see out his contract?
Beckford can only come on emergency having played for Leicester and the cows this season. I don't see logic here, the fee we were rumoured to have agreed for DJ was 1-1.5 million, he's 31 and not got a lot left in him. Ebanks Blake is IMO a better player anyway, 26 with a lot left in him and potential to recover th fee we'd pay and possibly profit. Why would we be willing to pay twice as much for Campbell?
Fryatt is defo out for the season. This injury won't slow him down though, its not as if he had blistering pace. To be fair I think he's not upto top 2 level when he's fit anyway, a good player to have on the bench but don't think he'd settle for that.
Wood has had half a good season ebanks Blake has scored plenty of goals at this level over the years so not so bad eh ?
If we're willing to pay 1-1.5 for SEB, why offer that first off? I think what we've done is test the waters with a 500-700k bid. I'd imagine we'll go in again. I think he's scored 10 this season in an poor-ish Wolves side. He's proven Championship level (I think he's got a ratio of better that 1 in 3 in the Champ). PL experience if maybe not the quality. He has 5 years on DJ and 3(and experience of the league) on Gedo. He's my pick of the bunch.
If he's as poor as you reckon then why do Mick Mcarthy and Ian Holloway both want him as well as us? Just because he didn't get on with square head doesn't make him a bad player
thought he did well at birmingham, so well infact that they wanted to keep him but did not have the money
