I did a poll after the Forest game asking if Jacko should be dropped, most people said either yes or yes if he plays badly after the Palarse game. Well he did play very badly last night so who should play left midfield for the Derby game?

Thoughts?

Erm, well I like Jacko but no way his he a LM at this level and If Stephens is injured then Jacko is a good CM or if Wiggins is injured for a while I wouldn't say no to him going LB, afterall he first signed for us on loan as LB back up. I think Kerkar is the best out of the choices, Green and Waggy are RM's Evina is a LB, Loans can be more hassle then they're worth and Pritchard would be sold if it was up to me, can't stand the player this season, I thought he was average in league 1, in this league he's poor, truely poor.

Kerkar seemed dangerous against Forest too so he has to be given a chance at LM with Green at RM next week and Pritchard on loan or reserves or sold :D
 
Jacko.

Best of a mediocre bunch and I actually thought he was ok yesterday.

In a fully fit squad with Wiggins fit then he roams the left with Jacko as the left-field centre mid.

We should be stretching the game to the right with Green hugging the line.

That was how Jacko played so well last year, he had a free role allowing him space, time and a goal threat.

We should have took a punt on Lee Cook though.
 
Harriott or Kerkar.I haven't seen Kerkar hardly at all but isn't that why he was brought in? And isn't that also why Harriott was given a pro contract last year I think? If they're not going to be played what are they doing at the club?
 
Out of that list i don't think the personnel is the problem. We didn't play with a left mid yesterday. Give jj a chance of actually playing there. The 2 wide men weren't wide men yesterday. In fact i couldn't even tell you where they were ment to be playing.

Pritchard taken off 76 minutes too late.... But I think Powell wants the diamond to work but simple fact is it isn't. We just need to hope that Powell realises we need to do a wide 4-4-2 with actual wide men rather then two CM's especially one as poor as Pritchard too

That is a silly question. We are not playing any of his contemporaries in the first team either, Cousins, Osborne, Ayayi, Fox, Jordan, Piggott, Azeez (and maybe others I have forgotten). Do you want to get rid of them too?

Harriott is still a kid learning the game and only in his first year of three in our under-21 squad. Ask that question again in three years time and it might make sense.
 
I think Jackson is the right type of player for LM and has all the necessary skills and positional sense. He made a great partner for Wiggins last year and a large proportion of our goals came from their combining on the left wing. Unfortunately he is either carrying an injury or his legs have gone. All of the other options listed are either unsuited to the role except for emergency fill-ins or are just not good enough. Therefore we need to either sign a free agent or borrow a player. Both are risky strategies but I think we have no choice as we apparently lacked the cash to make a quality permanent signing (such as Wordsworth) in the summer.

Until we sign someone I think Kerkar is the best of what we have, though I would not be confident in playing him in physically tough games where we have a lot of defending to do. Apparently both Wiggins and Evina are reluctant to play LM otherwise pairing those might solve the problem.
 
It's got to be Kerkar for me on the left and Green on the right especially at home where we need to start bossing matches, we've now gone over 4 hours at home without scoring and this isn't acceptable.

Jackson and Pritchard must be dropped for Derby bring in Green and Kerkar and i'd suggest even Kermit needs to buck up his ideas as well or Fuller will take his place up front. I hate to be so harsh on our 101-points team but we need to make changes before we find ourselves back in League One.

As a great supporter of Bradley Pritchard, it pains me to say this but I agree almost completely Martinho, except that I think it's BWP that might make way for Fuller, as I can't see them playing together as a front two.

Harriott was given his first-team debut the season before last and performed quite well too, unlike those others you mention.
 
Jackson was woeful on Friday. Absolute garbage.

I want to see two conventional wingers on Tuesday. Green and Waggy will do for me.

If Kermit and BWP continue to struggle, I would plump for Fuller and Cook.

We need to shake the team out of this rut, before it really sinks in.

Well, that just makes your views more extreme. If you are suggesting we get rid of Harriott because he is not being played, then you will surely want to get rid of the seven or eight others who, in your view, not as advanced as him. We would then have to drop out of the under-21 league and write off our chances of future survival as our new board have stated their plan is to develop our own players and sell them to fund the club.

I don't think our playing problems are very serious. They can be solved relatively easily. CP is lucky that it is obvious where the weaknesses are, and they are not in our attack or our defence (in which I count Hollands), which are well up to survival standard in this division, and maybe better than that. That leaves the two wide and one central midfield position to be sorted out. We should have sold Stephens for £1million plus and either Green or Wagstaff (or both) and brought in three players to strengthen those positions.

That would be a short-term fix to last a season or two, but we have a bright crop of players who were under-18s last season, including your mate Harriott. Give them a year or two in the under-21s where they will be playing against quality opponents, and hopefully three or four of them will be ready for Championship standard. At present they are not, and Harriott is not even an automatic choice for the under-21s now he has Bover to compete with.
 
Extreme? Moi? Harriott's case is different. He is in the second year of a 2-year contract, and if he hasn't been able to make a 7-man bench then the Charlton management give me the impression that they don't believe he has made sufficient progress from when he made his debut. Harriott has also played several times in a diamond just behind the front 2, so maybe that's what they have in mind. I just don't know. As Rafa Benitez would say it is fact that those other 7 or 8 weren't given a first-team debut the season before last, that's all I'm saying!
 
I know we have been poor in the last two games but why is everyone saying it's a disaster, yeah sure we lost to Palace something that hurts us all and sure we've been shocking against Forest and distinctly average against Hull we're not in a relegation battle guys and gals. We saw on friday palace were in the relegation zone now they win and they go up to like 10th. A poor start to the season by our recent standards but look at the calibar of oppostion.

Birmingham, Leicester and Forest many people's favourites to be up there at the end of the year and we performed very well against the first two. Think positively Reading had 4 points after 6 games last season now look at them. Think positively guys, a slow start but not the worse start possible. We will pick up.... as long as Pritchard is never anywhere near the first team for a long time
 
Shame to make Pritchard a scapegoat. He has been playing non-league football for years as a CM and suddenly he has to move up 3 or 4 divisions and play as a winger. Didn't Solly also get slated when as a rookie he had a poor game OUT of POSITION against Millwall? One of our most consistent players is Morro but he wasn't that great when he was played out of position either.
The exception is Hamer, who looks quite a useful striker.

Pritchard though has been appalling all season I think, only reason we didn't pick up on it against Leicester was that we actually won. I feel sorry for him seeing he's a CM and shouldn't be on the right but he's too small for this league and I didn't see him do a single pass successfully against Forest or Palace. He needs to do like Waggy did when he was too small and didn't seem to be up for it physically but now waggy at least has some strength. Send Pritchard to the reserves for a whole and the gym and he may turn out to be a very good player. Like I said I feel sorry for him but I still think he shouldn't be near the first team.

I wouldn't give it too long before Kermogant is dropped either. We all think he's undroppable but he's not been as prolific this year as last season. I've given BWP a lot of stick in the past but apart from Solly and Hamer BWP has been our best player this year. If Kermogant and BWP don't work as well as they have done soon then we need to mix it up, try fuller until we find a good combo.
 
Agree completely RE BWP, ted. Out of the two front men, the latter is definitely doing more in trying to retrieve the ball and hassling defenders.

I'm more curious to see a fuller/BWP partnership, rather than kermo/fuller (which is where I think we will end up in the coming games).
