December 9th/10th isn't that far from Christmas.

The BBC's idea for how the 2022 winter could go seems quite plausible.

    Possible 2022 timeline
    Early November:
    Premier League pauses
    26 November: World Cup starts
Early December: Group stages finish, half the players return to clubs
Through December: More players return home after knockout stage exit
Friday, 23 December: World Cup final
Monday, 26 December: Premier League returns on Boxing Day?

Though a much better idea would be to strip Qatar of the tournament and give it to Australia, the (IMO) best choice of the 2022 bids.

That's ****ing brilliant although Im sure more of a break would be needed and a likely restart in January would be more plausible.

It would certainly make more sense to restart the season with the FA Cup 3rd round.

It isn't the Christmas period though. Do you think 15 days after Xmas is the Xmas period as well? Or Easter extends two weeks either side of Good Friday? The HCST meetings must be a hoot.

Don't know about your missus but she begins her christmas shopping much earlier than the 24th of December. As soon as Christmas decorations come up i count that as the christmas period

I don't know about you, but I'm pretty certain that based on the amount of decorations, advertising and media based around Christmas, that the Christmas period starts a lot earlier than the 10th December...

So why did you tell him he could say goodbye to watching Champions league matches over the Christmas period?
    10th of December isn't Christmas.

It still isn't the Christmas period. I've just been looking at adverts for Summer holidays. Does that make it summer?

When I said the 'Antarctic in the middle of winter', I meant the Antarctic in the middle of their winter, not some random winter going on in another continent. <doh>

I think we should move Christmas to Summer so the Aussie convicts can enjoy a proper Christmas. <ok>

What's a hen? and yes i am locked up unfortunately :(

As for this christmas period definition you'll need to slate your bum chum bum crabbed chin as he called it the christmas period watching Ghana vs Paraguay (which would be in the earlier rounds i presume with those to high class teams).
