I think News Now just uses an algorithm to find stories and probably just goes on the headlines. Not sure exactly how it works.

I think you're right, CC. A news aggregator would look for key words in the headline or story, and a website/blog would provide a description that shows on News Now that's not necessarily the headline. That's my guess, anyway.

There's also Pinkun's tendency to report on sensational blog claims and then reverse it later with words like we believe 'this story is off the mark'. It could be clickbait, but it'd be far more professional for them to check the story before publishing anything.

Looking further into Hourihane, he's left-footed, just under 6 feet, can play as either a CM or DM and could be another option in McLean's position. He could come on a loan and then a free transfer when hi contract expires in June 2022.

I can see the sense in Hourihane, for depth and to help Smith get his message across in the way Zimmerman did for Farke.

But it would certainly feel like a signing with one eye on the Championship.

McLean is our only left footed midfielder so we could do with another. It could have to do with whether Gilmour leaves in January.

In any case, unless Aarons and/or Cantwell leave, we're not going to have a big transfer budget after the managerial change and compensation paid.

Is Hourihane even getting a game at Sheff U? Think he has only played more than an hr twice
That's only a rumour, but if Smith feels it would strengthen our options then I'll trust his judgement. It would be good to have another left-footed midfielder option and at a price we could easily afford.

Don't get me wrong, I rate him. Just feel like if we are serious about staying up come Jan, we will need someone who is at least good enough to start in the Champ. Surely? As you say, I will trust DS and guess he knows Hourihane. Just seems, as mentioned above, like its a potential signing with one eye on the Champ... if its more than a rumour.

Yes his goal scoring rate is very low, but Smith is said to rate him highly, having recently extended his contract at Villa. With Pukki, Sargent, Idah and Hugill on our books and Kamara getting near the first team, do we really need another striker?

Here's the Pinkun's take on Hourihane and Davis:

https://www.pinkun.com/sport/norwich-city/ncfc-transfer-rumours-avfc-links-continue-8513240

I'd suggest that with Pukki as our 1st choice, Idah 2nd but not really pushing, Sargent being preferred out wide and Hugill not being anywhere near good enough, we need someone who might come and push Pukki for a start. Davis has had injuries and his goal scoring isnt great, but he is only 23 and has the pace and power to become a top forward. Needs a run or games and fitness.

Idah could be the one, but has stuggled to really press for a starting place. Reckon Kamara could be a fair way off being a first team consideration.

We have a 15 goal (so far this season) striker with a point to prove on our books already ..........

And if he gets injured? We then have a kid with little experience (Idah), another youngster who has been playing wide and has a poor goal record (Sargent) and a guy on loan who by all accounts can't do much in the Championship (Hugill).

It's the only position we have little to no competition in really
