I'm going to be a bit selfish now. This season because of the medical reasons I have missed several matches due to midweek evening games and the weather being as cold and miserable as it has been. If we got relegated then it is likely that there wouldn't be so many midweek matches and I wouldn't get to miss them. I have doubts about the next one on tuesday now. I buy a season ticket so am dipping out in some respects because of the TV committments. I'm not hoping for relegation but have to say I wouldn't lose a whole load of sleep if it happened. A question I have often thought of is the one that asks if it is better to have a winning promotion season in a league that you can compete in or is it better to watch you side lose in a league you can't. So, if this manager proves to be be ok then I for one won't give him stick if we go down.

It seems we are on the verge of losing Adam Forshaw to Blackburn Rovers.....who want him for cover and to bring more experience to the squad as they push for promotion.

This will free up space in Argyles squad to bring in a more dominating player to help us get more of a grip in mid-field.

His record says he’s done well at a small club in a big pond, to mix metaphors somewhat. Bluntly, that’s what we are in the Championship.

Cercle Brugge get attendances of 5,000 or less in a shared stadium where Clubbe Brugge get 20,000 or more. Nevertheless, they’ve performed pretty well in the league under him and even in Europe.

You never know with these things. Football managers tend to have short tenures, which suggests there’s no perfect candidate. Bringing back previous incumbents doesn’t always work. Everton are apparently in talks with David Moyes. That’ll be interesting.

I am not trying to be negative before we’ve seen his team play but as a talking point. It does strike me that the attribute that got him the job was his clarity of vision on how he wants a team to play. As another Germanic leader said “no plan survives first contact with the enemy”. Principle or pragmatism? Which wins football games?

Anyway, there’s nothing to do but get behind him and his players. That’s what I shall do.

Actually, there are League 1 and 2 games being televised too Sensible. I know this because I have the Chanpuinship games set to record on my Sky box and get all of the others too: as far as Sky are concerned, it’s all one package.

The disruption arising from relegation would be horrendous. A significant part of the squad would leave and have to be replaced. There’s dead money in there on agents’ fees and so on. The planned development of training facilities would have to paused as would the longer term ambition of enlarging the ground.

The ownership of Simon Hallett is a golden opportunity to make a shift in the natural position of the club. We need to make the most of him.

Been listening to Miron Muslic (42yr old Austrian) being interviewed by Kraakhelder....over half an hour of interesting chat.

He comes over as a studious thinker and will I think do well at Argyle.....he has come into a relegation side before and slowly changed things around without overloading the players with too much change all at once......speaks four languages and I think he will be allowed by Simon Hallett to get on with it.

Miron Muslic is the complete opposite to Wayne Rooney and will not try to teach the players a system that they are not able to deliver...... like Rooney tried to do without understanding that his players have limitations and are not Premier class able to adapt.to his wants.

Confirmed....Argyle have cancelled his contract....which allows him to move to Blackburn and be nearer his family which is what he wanted.

You can see his class in the way he manoeuvres the ball but I’m afraid he’s got too many miles on the clock for this brutally physical league.

Ironically, he might still do better in the Premier League where it’s all a bit more intellectual than the hustle and bustle in the Championship.

The medical bit isn't terrible now but I do struggle in very cold weather. I can't justify to her who must be obeyed going out and risking it if it's too bad. I get a lift to the ground or rather near to the place but there is always a bit of a hike up the hill from the Barn Park entrance to the park. It's the uphill bit that does it and I can't make it in one these days. My son offerred to bring his cattle prod to assist as he is so understanding. It's why I beat him a lot when he was small.

We have to get behind the manager because he is the only one we have got. I will back him and as you say will make up my own mind in a while when he has had chance to settle in. Lets face it though, Nance is a given and probably all interviewees get told at the start that the job comes with him on the team. I know football can be brutal but there would be riots if they tried sacking him.

If you have difficulties getting to the ground, I believe you can obtain a reserved parking space in the coned-off area of the top car park.

There is then the problem that I believe you don’t drive but perhaps a relative if they could also benefit from easy parking.

thanks notdistant. I mostly get a lift to Outland Road side of the ground and dropped off there so the uphill hike isn't the problem then. It's the evening games where a friend takes his car and he has to park up which leads to the hike. I can make it and really it does me good to push it a bit sometimes even if I don't think so at the time. I do two thirds of the hill and then take a breather before doing the second part. The people I go with do understand now and even wait for me. They used to walk on and leave me trailing 50 yards behind before they realised I was missing.

I got quite excited watching the draw this evening. Hope it will be a Sunday game as that will be afternoon or lunchtime. Bound to be televised surely.

It is being said that Burnley have submitted a bid for Morgan Whittaker......they had shown interest during the summer.

Whittaker has put himself in the shop window again with that brilliant winning goal against Brentford on Saturday......have we the resolve to say no ?

The club have made their position clear. Only silly money will do. And there are no signs Whittaker wants to go.

None of this is verified of course, but then, neither is the talk of a bid from Burnley. It gives an idea what Argyle mean by silly money. Eight digits obviously.

Whittaker has been consistently linked with Rangers since then, but when he left Swansea in the summer of 2023 it was Argyle he joined. Then last January, after he emerged as one of the best players in the Championship, he was the subject of an £8.5 million bid from Italian Serie A side Lazio, which was rejected.

Leeds are supposed to have had scouts at Brentford on Saturday checking out Bali Mumba.
