If the proposed winter break becomes a reality, what's the general views on this? Personally I'm a traditionalist and hate to see Football eroded away like 3pm k/offs. It seems the main people driving this change is the Premiership top boys, and I'm fed up of wenger, guardiola et Al whinging about our winter schedule..
its meant to help keep the international players from burning out over the summer tournements - but as kiwi says - they'll fill the gaps with some lucrative globe trotting games
But they will still have 38 league games to play. Think of the complaints they will make when they have to play midweek league games in consectutive weeks! Finishing in early May rather than late May would give more recovery time for the international players. And the break will come when the weather is fine!
When would they have a winter break? Over Christmas? Two weeks off in January? As others have said, having two weeks off mid-season will only lead to more fixture congestion and make the problem worse.
Exactly, especially if there is also disruption caused by snow which in this country can occur anytime between December and May.
They’ll continue to erode the cups. FA cup set to go to no replays in the fifth round. Doesn’t affect us but still.
