Not fussed either way if he stays or goes. We aren’t signing a decent striker this window and I think id prefer to just give Archer as many minutes as possible. Does leave us short if anything were to happen to him though, BBD (if he’s still here), Stewart (if he’s ever fit) or Armstrong through the middle (he’s ****) would be our only options I think. Probably forgetting someone due to the 40 players we have in our squad though
Yeah, I too am not fussed either way. I suppose it comes down to the fee. Something around the £4m level, I don't think I'd want us to bother selling. Whereas something around the £8m level, I think I probably would - I suspect that would be more than we could wish to get in the summer.
He would bang in goals in the championship. So may as well keep him for next season if we can’t get much for him. Still fully baffled that we loaned him out last season tbh. Horrendous decision making to sign Stewart while we had him.
Well we wouldn’t have ever crossed to him last season, as shown in the games he played when Martin was here, so I doubt he would’ve been too effective. Adams is better than him so would’ve been first choice as well so whether he wanted to be a backup in the Championship would come into play as well He obviously was a signing with Jones in mind, maybe Juric wants a striker like him in the side and we play to his strengths.
Also he only has 1 year left after this season so will be another “lose him for free or sell” scenario in the summer
Here’s an idea: Sell raffle tickets for £1, and every ticket ending in 0 or 5 wins you a player from our illustrious squad. That should raise a few quid, probably more than the entire squad is worth right now.
We needed a keeper desperately, however bad it is now it would have been a lot LOT worse without him in goal. I will knock SR for, well, near enough everything they’ve done but that one was money well spent. Pretty much every single other transfer can **** off.
He has made a lot of saves McCarthy would not have made. He has stopped 4-0s being 8-0s. If we had an actual defence in front of him that had confidence we’d be alright. I will say that a Keeper signing of his quality came about 3/4 years too late though.
We needed players in every position, but obviously some more than others. Keeper, imo, was further down the list than a DM. Going into the season with only Downes as an experienced DM was pure madness. Having the world's best goalie wouldn’t make a difference with a midfield as weak as ours.
