Yeah I think (hope) we have a list of players we have been monitoring for awhile who we like, and if for some reason any of them become available in Jan and want to come then we bring them in. No point in spending big on players who are coming in for a survival attempt . Someone id like us to take a look at is Louie Barry. Young player on loan in League 1 at Stockport from Villa, was previously a very highly rated teenager at Villa, ended up going to Barcelona for a year before coming back to Villa and signing for Stockport on loan. Is doing really well this year (14 goals in 22 games playing the Armstrong role) and with Villas current squad/ambitions he might be way down the pecking order. At 21 seems like a good player to be looking at with next year in mind. Let him stay at Stockport for the season and come in for pre season. If we can shift some players that should he our priority. Saw some rumours about Diaz to Sheff Utd. We might be able to get some/all our money back on him as he was pretty cheap and presumably Sheff Utd rate him based on last season. Maybe a loan with a guarantee to buy if Sheff Utd get promoted could work for everyone. Interesting to see what happens with Onuachu, whether he fancies seeing out the season if Juric sees him as the main striker, or whether he wants out. If he doesn’t want to play on the Championship then he might just want out now if there is a decent opportunity
The difficulty with TP is he’s 30 and already (rightly in my view), probably feels he’s wasted 2 years here and a move might just work for him, but at the same time he’s not a proven PL player with attributes that can point to his potential value. Who would buy him and at what price? Personally I’d like to see him stay become a cult hero with some goals which will come in the new wave of thinking.
Come on Saints, make a cheeky loan bid. Dani Olmo: Barcelona's appeal for precautionary registration of midfielder rejected - BBC Sport
A move back to Belgium/Turkey might be appealing for him. He could move to one of the big teams in those leagues based on the rumours and he might want that over a likely 6 months in the Prem and then Championship next year, guaranteed some European football etc. No doubt he’s not been used well at his time with Saints and he might be pissed off by that. Was definitely a signing with Jones in mind and then not used since. The top Turkish clubs pay better than Saints and he may be of interest to them, but yeah definitely a player we’ve ****ed around and never given a proper opportunity to and wouldn’t blame him if he wanted to move
No but I don't think he's nearly as bad as some make out on here. Sometimes moves just don't work out. There's a reason why we spent a lot of money on him and why other clubs are interested in him. Sadly he just hasn't shown his talent nearly enough here which I definitely think he has.
Does JWP get to play much at Forest? We should go all out to bring him back. Our set pieces are terrible and now finally, we've got someone to aim for.
He won't be able to play for another club this season, I don't think, as he's already played for both West Ham & Forest
Sad news! Feel he'd fit right in with the new manager AND be allowed to play forwards unlike last time round.
Ok let's accept we are down. Who's a prolific striker in the lower leagues we can bring in, for next season? Someone who can eventually play in the Premier League.
Does anyone think we might just be putting TP in the shop window for Jan? Hope he gets a couple and SR make some money?
Yeah, Sainz is the only player on my radar for signing next month. Norwich aren't going anywhere this season, so hopefully won't demand too high a price. But the main focus of next month needs to be outgoings. If we can get any offers for Sulemana, Bree, Lumley or Manning, they would be top of my list to leave. Any of Edwards, Fraser, Diaz or Sam AA could be loaned out, but I wouldn't be looking to sell any of them (because I see them part of our squad next season).
I’d sell Brereton Diaz for a bag of lightly salted chips, although there’s a minuscule part of me that wonders how he’d look playing as the main striker. Probably dreadful, but it is his position, and Rusty never bothered trying him there.
