Getting to the back end of November just six weeks until the window opens time get the rumour mill grinding. This, (thanks SR123 posting in Saints Stuff) translated, cut and pasted from https://www.fichajes.net/noticias/excanterano-manchester-city-radar-arsenal-20241119.html Shea Charles , a promising young player in British football, is shaping up to be one of the names to watch in the coming years. Currently on loan at Sheffield Wednesday , the midfielder belongs to Southampton , the club that signed him after his time in the youth ranks of Manchester City for a fee of over 12 million euros. His talent and constant development have not gone unnoticed by Arsenal , who already have him in their sights as a possible future signing. Shea Charles, an unexpected wish from Mikel Arteta At just 21, Charles has shown impressive footballing maturity both at club level and with the Northern Ireland national team, where he serves as captain. His loan spell at Sheffield Wednesday has given him the opportunity to gain competitive experience in a demanding environment, and so far, he has made it clear that he is ready for bigger challenges. His style of play, marked by a perfect balance between defence and creation, makes him a highly sought-after, complete midfielder.
Can always trust the Sun for a good laugh! Brazil prodigy Endrick linked with shock transfer to Southampton after Real Madrid struggles | The Sun
I love KWP. He's been a brilliant player for us. But by the time the transfer window opens, chances are we are all but mathematically relegated...and his contract runs out in the summer. I'd assume there will be several clubs vying for him as free agent in the summer, so might as well offer him for say £5m now. If we are somehow still in with a chance of survival then I'd rather keep him for the last few months of course, but that doesn't seem likely. Likewise there doesn't seem any point in spending in January if we are all but mathematically down. We'll be shopping for a different market come the summer so save the money for that.
I can easily see us being all but mathematically down by January 1st. We have 4 points and a really tough set of fixtures coming up. Other teams won't even need to pick up 'loads of points' to start to pull away from us, and that doesn't even really matter if we can't pick up dramatically more points than we have so far AND do that during a much tougher set of fixtures, we'll be lucky to be on 10 points by then. We ain't staying up from there.
We'll see but I think we've actually played better in the tougher games so far this season. Saints have always had a habit of picking up unexpected points. Even in the season we went down we did the double over Chelsea and drew with Arsenal twice.
Generally speaking we play better against the better sides I agree, but it's pretty rare we pick up points as a result. We still lose far more often than not, and the narrative is then that if we play like that against the lesser teams we'll be fine. But as we know with one win and one draw from all our winnable games so far, that just doesn't happen.
May I respectfully point out this is the transfer rumour thread, musings on our relegation situation belong elsewhere. @freetheJabbo1
Southampton have registered an interest in 18-year-old Real Madrid and Brazil striker Endrick, alongside Roma and Real Valladolid. (Sport, via Mirror) How does a club ‘register’ an interest exactly?
