Spanish bloke with no connection to England wins a competition in England cheered on by English people? Get to ****. Rather stick pins my eyes.
Read that a British junior won their title. The last time that was done by Stanley Matthews son in 1962.
Enjoying sports is subjective so I can understand the last sentence, but the cheering was for a relatively new on the scene and young player toppling the last (and arguably the best) of a group of 5 players who have dominated the sport for two decades, nothing to do with his nationality.
Why can't we just enjoy the sport for what it is? The English had a go and came up short, disappointing but not the end of the world. I'll be shouting for England on Wednesday but I won't be suicidal if we lose.
