Wimbledon

Yes Roger is the ultimate grass court player, still looks so elegant yet can strike some amazing winners and seems to have found a new lease of life.... maybe because his wife has just had a second set of twins and he needs the prize money to keep his family in the style to which they have become accustomed.:emoticon-0105-wink:

As for Grigor Dimitrov he will be Wimbledon champion one day I have no doubt, he has it all and certainly has won a few admirers particularly amongst the ladies for his good looks as well as his tennis...

He also looks more assured f himself in his pits match interview knowing that he can win Wimbledon rather than hoping for the best. If this Federer turns up in the semis and final, he'll be crowned champion again. Truly outstanding performance today.
He also seems a lot stronger too when hitting the ball.

sadly young Nick blown away by the Canadians serve and no rest day probably did not help but even he said he was outgunned. I hope Bouchard wins the Ladies. Grigor has an Aussie connection, Roger Rashid is his coach but playing Roger Federer is always a tough gig. sports I cannot watch are ice hockey, baseball and basketball

I used to go up to Wimbledon every year in my younger days from Middle Thursday on, had some great Center court seats watching John boy, Borg, and Becker, old Connors was a slugger, great times they were, I thought Nadal was looking good in his early games, shame he's out, he looked like he wanted the title this year, though Federer must surely be favourite, with Djokovic, shame about Murray!.................<ok>

Bouchard : A Star is Bjorn , We have a French Canadian contingent of athletes is many sports but tennis iis looking pretty good for us these days , in both genders for years to come

Interesting to see others' preferences for sport. Cricket's the one I can't get into.

Baseball is the one I will never be able to get into....tried to watch it but I just don't get it.

In fact the American sports aren't too hot for me in general;

American football - fascinating but too stop start, the game seems to go on forever and there aren't too many moments of skill that take your breath away
Basketball - I love to play, and it is very skillful, but totally boring on the telly until the last 5 minutes of the game.

....I tend to watch only the finals of American Football and Basketball but I do like Ice Hockey. Never even tried to skate so have very limited understanding but it makes great T.V. imo

Sports I love....

Football
Boxing

Sports I like to watch on T.V.....

Rugby Union,
Rugby League,
Cricket (but only the tests),
Athletics (but only the Worldies and the Olympics),
The Winter Olympics (the sports involved are exotic to me as I have never experienced any of them, a lot of them lend themselves to good T.V.),
Snooker,
Darts,
Tennis (although it has to be a really good game....don't watch the early rounds of a tournament),
Aussie Rules (although you hardly ever see it on T.V. over here and people tell me that lately there has been a lot of one sided games.....any game that finishes 78-11 is not interesting in the slightest),
Golf (but again it has to be the Open or the US Masters or the Ryder Cup to get me interested....not interested in watching European golfers you've never heard of hacking around a course in Germany or somewhere).

Sports that I don't like....

Motorsport (although I admit I have enjoyed the odd Formula 1 or Super bike race in my time....in general I find it boring),
Cycling (Understand it, just find it dull),
Surfing
and
Baseball (how this became so popular in America I'll never know....but I guess they feel the same about cricket!)

...In fact the American sports aren't too hot for me in general...

I would agree with that. I don't watch any but take your point about ice hockey. They're too insular in general but I can understand that to a certain degree, geographically speaking. That's why I've never been the slightest bit bothered whether football takes off over there. I've never understood the rest of the world bending over backwards to accommodate them, there must be money in it!

I watch Rugby (all), snooker, darts, (some) golf, Olympics, (some) athletics, (some) tennis and that's about it really.

Exactly and currently enjoying the tropical heat of St Albans waiting to go into a meeting :)

Played over 50 seasons of baseball , great and fun times that took me around Canada on more than a few occasions . I never watch it though , only play it.... until youve played it youll never know the fun involved .

Another sublime performance from Federer at Wimbledon again so far.

Yes Roger through to another final & Djokovic saw off the young pretender Dimitrov a little earlier but I can see the Bulgarian becoming a firm favourite in years to come.

Regarding other sports my other half loves Grand Prix motor racing & so have been with him to Silverstone & the Belgian circuit in the past but it can be boring watching at home & can sometimes send me to sleep. Recently went to my first ever horse racing meeting at Bath races, helped that we had hospitality for the day including free bar & had great day especially as we won some money on a six race accumulator.
