It would have been a great day out and a boost to our long suffering fans. Other clubs fans go to Wembley, why shouldn’t we ? History shows that Charlton’s Wembley appearances don’t come along often - I have been twice since 1977 when I started going. The fact is that the bottlers & non triers & idiot owner has cost us again.
I know, but it would still have been a much needed morale boost. Can you see any others on the horizon ?
I was annoyed about losing - it's not as if we rested players, we just have a thin squad when the injuries arrive. It wasn't unexpected, just that certain naff feeling that goes with us in the cup lately.
Under this regime I expect only failure. At least we've moved away from the relegation fight which seemed likely under Slade, but if we fail to go up and Robinson is sacked we're back in the poo
It's a fact, failure is all they've provided us with. These young fans I mentioned earlier in this thread, were p1ssed off before the draw, but they're truly gutted now after it. Not surprised the sycophantic fans are taking it well, but then why wouldn't they, none of these old farts are going to let anything spoil their personal agendas - They certainly won't care about the young fans who have missed out on a new experience. A trip to Wembley, a bit of banter with their Spurs mates, and that possible bit of glory with an FA Cup upset. These idiots are talking about getting into the play-offs as if it guarantees a Wembley trip and a win. Play-offs are like Cup games, and as we've just proved yet again, we're notoriously bad at winning them.
Interesting that arch- Apologist Seriously BrownTongue dismisses a Wembley trip for the FA Cup, yet judges a Wembley trip for the play offs an orgasmic success.
He keeps banging on about a trip to Wembley as if that's the be-all and end-all of the season. If we finish in the top two he'll be disappointed.
I'm sure he'll get over it. And if (as seems more likely) Charlton fail to reach the play-off final, or fail to even finish in the top 6, this will still be a season which apologists will long remember as the season we might have got to Wembley - twice! "Those were the days..." they can tell their wide-eyed grandchildren. "...when we were a gnat's whisker away from gracing the Sacred turf twice in one season. Bless my soul, we won't see the like of those times again."
The first game at the Valley in years that is likely to have a decent atmosphere and reasonable attendance. And the last such game for years to come unless Duchatelet sells up. Only an apologist could make anything meaningful out of that.
