My favourite player of the tournament so far, Elena Rybakina from Kazakhstan. Why? She's dead cool on the court, she's good, just made the final, but most of all she plays in complete silence, not a grunt or a shriek anywhere. Bliss.
Know which I prefer

Cameron Norrie all square v Djokovic but down 2 breaks in the third.

Blown away in the end, too many unforced errors for Norrie, Shame he looked really good at 3-3 second set but then the mistakes started coming and DJokovic cruised home.

Shame, but yes, unforced errors and suspect shot selection did for him imo.
Now we're left with a final between probably the 2 most unpopular players on the tour! I'm expecting a fairly muted occasion and a few empty seats in the corporates.

Djok isn’t unpopular

He was never a crowd favourite, because he never courted them, and his antics around the Aussie Open and covid in general didn't do him any favours.

edit: I was referring to his public popularity, not amongst other players.

born in moscow played representing russia until 2018. russia have claimed she is still theirs. i find it hard to warm to her due to the ukraine situation and i bet the crowd in the final root for jabeur.

I agree the neutrals will get behind Jabeur, it's an easy call, but Rybakina playing quietly is such a relief she deserves supporting!

Think you’re putting your own prejudice on him here

Maybe, I do think he was a bit dick-like over the Aussie Open affair. But I'm not on my own, many thought the same. He's just not a crowd favourite, hasn't been for a long time.

Problem with the female game is only best of three sets. Don't they now get equal prize money to the men and equality when they want it but play less for some reason?

To be fair it's a pretty quiet match in that regard from both of them. Good contest to watch though.
well the russian lass won. it always seems to be over real quick womens tennis, they dont seem to have very long rallies. i do love watching ladies peform though. im not a big tennis fan but im looking forward to tomorrows game and hope there will be fireworks on and off court.
