Big fan of both, and the progress they both made before injury was different. Ramsey did not get into the team straight away but he was clearly the outstanding youngster in 2009-10 squad. He started to break into the team post November and was outstanding for a spell and then Stoke happened. Wilshere, got into the team straight away after his loan spell because we lacked numbers in midfield with the likes of Ramsey and Diaby injured and Wilshere showed his quality. I think it's hard to compare them. Ramsey showed that he was far better in front of goal while Jack was better at just running the game from the midfield.
Wilshere's case is different to Ramsey's. Jack has had a whole season as first choice in which to hone his play. I think his brain is now attuned to playing at the top level and the path back to form will not be too perilous. Ramsey on the other hand had just started to break into the team when he suffered that leg break, he was inexperienced enough for a year out to set him back to square one. I don't think it will be too long before we see the JW of last season again. I would still like to see reinforcements in the attacking midfield area though.
Im with Piskie here, we shouldn't expect too much from Wilshere after his very long lay off and subsequent knee op. We really should be going in for a creative midfielder but that doesn't seem likely after Wenger's "quiet transfer season" comment... Also i do agree with Kyle's comment that Wilshere is not world class yet. He is a fine player but has to prove that he is world class yet. He is showing that he can potentially be that. As for Rambo being better before his injury, i would say he was a bit better than Wilshere, but that could be down to experience at the time. Unfortunately for Rambo, he's got worse since his injury whereas Wilshere has got better. We will see how good Rambo starts the season off and how Wilshere gets back from injury....
