  1. Whether an opinion is daft or not, you shouldn't call people names, and you may not have said the exact words "thick ****" but you've called me more names than anyone else on here.

Most of the time it's uncalled for.

I love you really Tash. Let's just cut the **** and ****.

Anyway aye. Another thing. I never notice Willo getting involved in play much. He defends well which is good, but when it comes to working together as a team and putting together play, I never really notice him.

Is that right, or have I just been looking in the wrong places?

He's not technically gifted. Is that your point?

Nah you're right he passes to his nearest option or hoofs the ball upfield or out of play. It's good to have a no-nonsense approach somewhere between the back four but Willo can't offer much else.

Thought so. I've always noticed that when we're playing up the pitch someone like Taylor is making himself available in areas for passes to keep the flow of play. I rarely see Willo doing that.

So in essence, when we're away from our goal and therefore not defending, we're only playing with 10 men. I know this is an exaggeration, but it's just to get the point across that a CB who can also partake in play and make passes can be a very important extra man. It's very useful when we have a defender who can act as a winger for 10 seconds to put in a cross, or act as a CM for 10 seconds to help with passing play up the pitch. It's just that extra man at key moments, who can also go back and defend solidly when required.

For me, it doesnt matter how fit Taylor is, that has nothing to do with why he's often the furthest man upfield because he has this dream of scoring goals from CB or why he makes ridiculous decisions like handballs or diving into stupid tackles or even just last weekend when he clattered into Agbonlahor and should have given a pen away.

Williamson is dependable and consistent, I dont see why he wouldnt be classed as capable at the top level.

Why? Does a 'no nonsense approach' stop goals going in better than other methods? If we have three defenders who are willing to defend and then pass intelligently, what positive improvement would it do to slot someone in there who will just hoof it? In that respect, Willo is the weakest link. If defending and intelligent passing is better than hoofing it, then you want four defenders who can defend and pass. Having someone who hoofs it is the weakest point in the chain of defence.

Don't forget. Defending isn't just about getting the ball from the opponents when they try to score. What's almost equally important is making sure that what you do with the ball afterwards will minimise the chance of another immediate attack. Passing and playing has to be intelligent to ensure that the ball is taken away from the goal and up the field, with minimal risk of the opponent getting hold of it again. Hoofing it like Willo does is risky business. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it will land at the feet of the opponent, who can then launch another attack inside our half.

  10. Taylor is a no nonesense defender but Willo is just ****ing stupid. He knocks the ball out when he has simple passes available to him, and gives possession back to the opposition, where as Taylor can pass the ball well and has good long balls.

Do you's not think we should sign a new centreback (to partner Colo)?

And don't say Samba cause I rate him as much as you guys but he seems to be loyal to Blackburn. Could imagine him staying there a while as long as no top teams (Arsenal were linked a while ago) go in for him

  14. He musn't be that loyal because he handed in a transfer request at one point. And besides 5.5 year contracts mean **** all really.

I know we'd all like him but if Samba became available he'd have better offers, Arsenal are crying out for a player like that.

And tbf wasn't that when Allardyce got sacked? There was a load of stuff happening then, then he came out and said he wanted to stay or something I think

Harper said he requested a few transfers but Sir Bobby always told him to stay, and he's considered one of the most loyal players ever.

At least Samba wanted out for footballing reasons, as opposed to chasing the biggest pay packet. But as I said, I think Arsenal will get him if available.
