F1 was always "expensive" i guess? at this point we have a number of...... well.... reluctant contributors in terms of components. If for example a rich person who is the modern day equivalent of eddie jordan comes along and needs some backing, he might get money but he needs more than 150mil mil a year. he probably needs 250mil or 500mil or whatever to build a modern factory, wind tunnel, hire staff and all that stuff (I'm sure the staff is 100x the olden days) then he is totally at the mercy of 3 enginer suppliers, ferrari, mercedes and renault.... Honda might come back in or not and red bull are red bull. Bascially it boils entirely down to these teams then saying oh they haven't the time to charge the fee for engines to build another teams engines. Car manufacturers are a for profit organisation. They will pull out and sell up overnight. Renault has done so how many times? honda have done how many times? A CEO now is not like enzo ferrari, the F1 side of things is a marketing excerise or not. they have much bigger fish to fry.
It does seem a bit weird that the title sponsor is only on the end plates. I was hoping for a bit more of a proper Gulf/Williams colour scheme.
If Gulf are the title sponsor , are they paying much for a space like that ? Very disappointing ( if this is really the final livery for next year ) IMHO.
Perhaps they may do a handful of special liveries through the year and maybe ramp up if they perform better?
That did cross my mind , like PRP , then I thought of budget caps , and the fact Williams may not get close to that even with Gulf money . Then my head exploded .
Does anyone remember when Jordan did a similar deal with Ford badging and Deutsche post ? Artists impressions were great , team was so bad the real thing looked nothing like you may have expected . My point is I believe it was sort of PRP , more successful they were the bigger the logos and more sponsorship earned .
Am I the only one who thinks if the season is poor , they should consider dropping the name Williams ? they’re not Williams , haven’t been for a while now .
I have just been lightening my mood reading some Dilbert cartoons on facebook, I then came here and read your posts. I felt like I was reading Dilbert again. No offense intended, just my mood.
it’s not the one I voted for , but they were all good , and ANYTHING is better than what they have now !
