Up next Shrewsbury away, they ain't too shoddy but if we have aspirations to finish top two, this is a game we should be winning...... 1-3 Town and Ladapo will break his duck!!
They’ve got the joint second-best defensive record in the league - along with us - having only conceded twice in four games. On the other hand, they’ve only scored once. I take Spanish’s point, if we want one of the automatic promotion spots, then we should be beating Shrewsbury away (no disrespect to them). I’d take another narrow 1-0 win to retain top spot. I’ll predict 2-0, on the basis that hopefully we can control the match better than we did against Burton.
Another tough game with teams learning that it doesnt end well for those who try to play open attacking football against us, so it could be another ugly 90 minutes to grind out a result, but as has been said these are the matches we must get something from.
Gotta be another 3 pts, tough old game, but the Lad giving everyone a smile with his 1st for Town 2-1 away win.
Think this has 0-0 written all over it... they'll stick 10 men behind the ball and will totally frustrate us, but hopefully one of only a few times this season. Don't think our creativeness is fully up and running yet, but hoping we learn from tough games like Burton and probably tomorrow
I agree stretchy, think it is a 0-0 which I'd take. They're strong defensively and exactly the kind of team who will highlight our attacking weaknesses...if we managed to overcome this with a great attacking performance and a win I think I will truly believe we are title contenders
Great interview with JD here https://www.ipswichstar.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/itfc-interview-with-janoi-donacien-9220598 Brought to my mind the ‘80s Dutch concept of total football, with players not having fixed positions but comfortable on the ball wherever they play.A risky but attractive style to aspire to.
Speaking of Dutch players he plays the CB position very similarly to how Fabien Wilnis played it towards the end of his time at Town. It's been a long time since we've had good Dutch players at the club
Personally wouldn't take a draw against anyone in this division, we are talking Shrewsbury here not Sheffield. Is our fall from grace that drastic that we would take a draw, now, against the likes of Shrewsbury??? I know we are no world conquerors but surely we have more ambition than that!!
Interesting team selection. Ladapo & Edmundson dropped to the bench with Burgess and TJJ coming in. Burns still injured
Glad to see JJ starting, and guess Burgess chosen because his height, but surprised the Fridge not there. Agree the Lad can come on when they are knackered and score his 1st! Still going for 2-1 win for Town, but another tough game ahead.
Well here I am in my cosy Bar in Amsterdam surrounded by my old Dutch mates, Frans, Arnie, Martijn, and goodness, young Fabian has just walk in. They are mighty happy about Town after all those years since the Glory days. Hey, they have bought me a drink too! We are glued to the screen, and they send all our 606 mates the best of luck!
Not lost to them in recent times. Bad memories of 2 fa cup defeats in the early 80s at their old ground. 1 nil difficult away win.
