If Cheltenham beat us we're as good as down.

I'm not abandoning my scepticism, but the 3-3 away at Bolton might just indicate a corner being turned.
The Portsmouth result (and our performance) will soon tell us if there is hope.

Plenty of rain these last few days.
I assume the Valley pitch is going to be OK to play on...

Have we ever been that low in our history? Surely not.

It’s alright though. Our XGf still averages out favourably and our XGa isn’t in the 4th worst in the division so we’ll definitely be ok.

Let’s see where we are in May.

And remember - our new owners make Tommy look like a peasant so that surely must mean we’ll finish above the 10th place that the peasant achieved. According to a saucie that is.

    Indeed.

But that doesn’t make the new owners and SMT any less sh*t.

It just proves that despite all the bullsh*t from certain puppets, we were better off under Thomas.

Just moved a point nearer to us, as one point more than we'll get tomorrow.

In May 1926 Charlton finished in the bottom 2 of the old Third Division (South).
Back then there was no 4th Division to drop into.
Teams finishing at the foot of the league had to apply to be re-elected. Fortunately CAFC was re-elected.

So we haven't been this low in living memory. Just under 98 years.

We don't know anything about the owners apart from the fact that they seem to be putting money in, and they seemed to have a naive trust in the SMT. Hopefully that trust is gone now. Tommy faced the same accusations of being tight, but he was also losing money hand over fist because of bad advice. You could say that both have saved us from possible administration or worse, but have trusted the wrong people. If we do go down we'll find out a thing or two about the owners.

They are covering our losses but are they ‘putting money in’ ?

And by that I mean putting money in to give us a team good enough to get out of this division.

I’d say the answer to the second sentence is 100% no. We will NEVER get out of League 1 with the quality of players that we currently have and despite all the leaks about “we’re in for JCH, we’re in for Collins” they are not spending enough money on the top quality players that are needed.

Our expenses have undoubtedly gone up with the salaries being paid to the much bigger SMT, while our income from ticket sales has gone down. I’ve yet to see any evidence of other commercial income going up, so unless the owners are willing to put in non-repayable donations as allowed under SCMP rules, then our squad will continue to get worse, not better.

Apparently they are not willing to put in theses donations (unless they are forced to because the SMT have f*cked up their figures again) so I just don’t understand the plan.

The bottom line is our league position

    10th under Sandgaard

20th (but effectively 22nd) under GFP

Charlie bulls****** the yanks and they left Mary, Mungo and Midge to get on with things.
Two managers and a freefall down the table alerted them to a 4000 miles trip over to London.
They took over the appointment of Jones and into the bargain made Scott irrelevant.
I reckon he's more or less history now.
Hopefully all three will be out of the door for the start of the new season, there has been a deafening silence since Appleton got the chop, I imagine the three clowns will not be smiling much in the directors box now at games.

We are now 5/2 to go down, Cheltenham 9/4 and Shrewsbury 6/4.

Port Vale, Carlisle and Fleetwood all odds on.

I agree with the bookies, it’s one from the three.

Plenty of games to go. There are a few other teams who could be drawn into the zone with a few bad results. I'd say we're about 50?50, but we are at least fighting now, and the atmosphere at the Valley has changed. Instead of singing "You're nothing special we lose every week" the fans are right behind the team. We can see the new team spirit. Kanu and Anderson are an important part of this, and thank goodness Dobbo is still here. Scott should be fired. A special mention for Gillesphey- I haven't been his greatest fan, but he made a magnificent tackle to prevent a certain goal. It had to be spot on, or it was a penalty and a red card, and for me it was the highlight of the match.

Portsmouth failed to capitalise on losses for both Derby and Bolton and although the stalemate meant Charlton claimed another impressive point, they are now 18 games without a victory, matching the longest winless streak in the club's history.

Thanks Charlie - setting new club records with your strategy :emoticon-0148-yes:

But I don't understand, ValleyGary on CL says I'm "chatting s***", a wonderful term btw, for questioning this winless run and not being optimistic of our staying up<doh>
