On a very minor side note how great is it to watch Match of the Day with KMc and Leif in the opening credits.
A terrific defencive performance from Town with everyone giving 100%, Muric, Davis, Greaves, Tuanzebe outstanding to a man, but it doesn't hide the fact that we lost midfield for the entire first half which meant very little ball reaching our front players so no little goal threat. The second half started with Brighton giving us the kitchen sink for the first 10 minutes but we kept going and started to come into the match especially when Jack Clarke came on he really looks a player, so a hard fought point against a very good side was earned. I was right next to the divide between both sets of fans and there was a few thumbs up from some Brighton fans as well as the usual abuse. A few points come to mind. 1 We have to stop giving the ball away be cause in this league it takes so long to get it back. 2 Our midfield that we expect to be so strong spent a lot of the match going backwards so our forwards were starved of service. 3 Clarke must start because he looks made for the Prem. 4 That back line of ours looks solid and with Muric behind them I think it's our best defencive unit. 5 Hutchinson must get in the game more and attack the opposition, he was missing for parts of this match. So a good point against a good side away from home in a beautiful stadium in the middle of nowhere.
I didn’t think Phillips had the best game and Jack Clarke doesn’t know how to defend yet. With the exception of Delap we tend to snatch at chances and the players are still learning to find each other - so there is plenty of growth to come in midfield and forward areas. All in all the most pleasing thing was the outstanding levels of effort, even from those who were struggling a bit. That only happens when the group is together and have full belief in the manager and each other.
We’ll only continue to get better as this new squad gets to now each other and what KMc and his coaching staff want from them.I really think we can look forward with optimism.
