The last Ipswich Town goalkeeper in this situation was Richard Wright. Certainly would have done him no harm. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/sky-falls-in-on-coventry-1618504.html

Wright played the last few games in a Premier League season when we were already relegated. We’re not relegated yet and there are still 29 games to play!

If we get into April/May, and we’re mathematically relegated, then by all means give Slicker some game time and see if he’s got the ability to be our first choice Championship goalkeeper. But there really is no need to effectively throw the towel in now. Not when we have a keeper in Walton, who could be an immediate upgrade on Muric and get us some points on the board.

We could just trust McKenna to decide on who he wants to play in goal, I know it’s crazy to think that the man that has masterminded back to back promotions and was coverted by 2 of the biggest clubs in the country might just have an idea who the best keeper at the club is.

Mathematically is neither here nor there. Sides don’t go from relegation form to title form. We’ve had quarter of the season so far and we’re miles off where we need to be so we are going to have to have an uptick quickly if we’ll have a chance.

He’s only got a choice between three ‘keepers and there’s not a great wealth to choose from.

I’ll leave McKenna to decide that as he sees them a little more often than I do.

Why debate or have an opinion on anything on this forum then? That’s literally the case with everything.

We have a different perspective - unclouded by the emotions, conflicting pressures and relationships he has - you’re heard the saying about not seeing the wood for the trees. He’s not always going to get things right. That’s abundantly clear from the games so far.

It’s fine to have opinion and debate, and my opinion is that McKenna is in a better position to judge than me, I wasn’t telling you to not share you opinion.

I think where we are at the moment McKenna could get everything right and we still lose games, so I’m just gonna try to enjoy the ride if we end up getting relegated so be it the championship is better anyway

I wouldn't put too much stock into the last couple of results, injuries are not helping at the moment and Tuanzebe is a big miss to the side.

Seriously? These fixtures were our best hope of picking up some points until the Spring, with a little run at the start of December our other main opportunity. This is the absolutely brutal run that starts 21st December through January and February:

    Newcastle (H)
    Arsenal (A)
    Chelsea (H)
    Fulham (A)
    Brighton (H)
    Man City (H)
    Liverpool (A)
    Southampton (H)
    Villa (A)
    Spurs (H)
    Man United (A)

We will have just eleven games to play by the end of that lot.

If you had told me a year ago that these were our upcoming fixtures, I would have laughed you off the planet!

I think what is biting us now is that the way we set up we rarely mauled teams and usually won by the odd goal. That means it’s only the finest of margins that needed to swing to usually lose by the odd goal and the step up in quality is no fine margin. If we only stopped handing goals on a plate and force teams to work hard for their goals then we are playing well enough in other areas to pull ourselves out of it. It’s kamikaze football at the moment and until that changes we are going to be in trouble. We are defending like Chambers and Nsiala are back in the team, only worse because Muric is in goal.
