I was going to write an Open Letter to Mr Charnley, but, why go to all that trouble when its obvious what he needs to do.

So, come on Lee, just get on with it and give the job to your mate John. <ok>

You know it makes sense, and rest assured it will be appreciated by fans the length and breadth of England.

Absolutely no-one has any idea. John and chums included (if you believe The Chron....).

Bookies are all over the place - McLaren miles out in front, best odds around 1/3, after that it's a free for all. Best pick of the short(ish) odds is probably Laudrup, not 'cos he's great or owt, but because he would represent a seismic change by the "board" (or "Lee" to his mates. I mean, mate). Worst pick is comfortably Glenn Hoddle @ 6/1 with Betvictor. Thankfully he's still 40/1 with Bwin.

I would prefer SM to Laudrup. Laudrup starts off canny but always struggles after his first season every club he has been at. We need a manager for longer than a year, and definitely not one that supporter groups will turn on after a few months.

Our betting markets are very different, surprise mover for us is Phillip Cocu who entered the market today at 20/1 now 7/2. With a large section of his PSV team moving on, word has emerged he'd be open to a new Challange. I know it's likely bollocks. I'd jizz if it we got him. I just find it strange he doesn't feature on yours or West Ham's market. I know we've now got Dutch connections through DA but surely he'd enter all the markets.

Edit: I thought it made no sense. It's just the lads on smb ****ing with the market. <laugh>

As per your last comment, the unwashed have already made their mind up about SM (and Carver for that matter). I think it's time to be bold, but you're right to preach caution on Laudrup - perhaps it'd be worth finding out WHY he gets "bored".

Thing that's going to rile me the most is when we make the most obviously pathetic decision (Carver, perhaps SM), we'll do it weeks and weeks down the line, with no reasonable explanation as to why we chose them or why it took so long.

Weirdest one I've seen is Patrick Vieira who has appeared from nowhere to now be 12/1 on BV and Sky. But then he's 6/1 with your lot.

Cocu's a fab choice, if you get him. Progressive and insta-success. Sort of thing I could see happening, purely to embarrass our clowns further.

<laugh> Yeah Vieira is a strange one. Cocu will be a no go, I've read the thread where smb lads have manipulated market, posting their betting slips. Daft ****ers, I got excited at first <laugh>

    Would you take McLaren Bri?

A lot of our fans don't seem keen. Personally I think he'd be a decent fit for us.

So with the bookies, Gourvennec (now 9/1) has come in - to be expected given L'Equipe's speculative story - but Vieira is (randomly) second favourite at 7/2, behind Schteve (1/6 clear fav).

Great news this morning is that John Carver is 14/1!!!

For me Gourvennec would be the best choice..allowing that we will repel all overtures and desperate plea's from the Klopp, of course

Think I agree, but it's clearly all set up to be a disastrous failure again. To be fair, it doesn't matter who we interview, when the question "can I bring staff?" is answered with a smiling John Carver poster.....

Gourvennec is an exciting young coach. Lots of french talent on this team for him to work with. I think that he might do better than a mclaren because he can control these french attitudes.

I have that sinking feeling too.. classic incompetent middle manager behaviour..fanny about/hide under the bedclothes till the problem that NEEDS addressing goes away..and we end up with carver

Of course. Good coach. Not going pretend it would be an inspired choice but it would be safe and there's not a lot out there.

    "french attitudes"?

I do hope you're not suggesting that French people are 'all the same' <whistle>

Carver is here for the long haul. What a chancing, goblin-spawn, parasitic **** he is.

Just the ones on newcastle. The only one I've constantly seen busting a gut is cabella. Other than that you would think they go home at night not caring if we won or lost.

Then again, it is not like our British lads have been that great. Colback has done alright but Williamson, Dummett, Sammy, etc have been ****ing **** beyond belief. Raylor is gone. From what I have seen of Armstrong he looks like he was concieved in Chernoybl with his stubby flid arms.

I got 12/1 on him a few weeks ago so get £120 back plus stake if he gets the job.
