I don't think that anyone's suggesting that Ferguson has or had magical powers.
He used his position to influence people, pretty openly at times too. He no longer has that position.

    I think you're a little confused, UIR.
I didn't change my opinion and the initials of Man Utd's number 7 are AV.

Following a point is not high on the agenda in Manchester is it?

  6. It could be far worse for United fans, though. That manc twat, Liam Gallagher could support them instead of £ity.

And Liam Gallagher IS a massive twat. Beady Eye are complete dogshit as well.

Another bollocks story in The Star this morning saying that Bale has told pals he would like to join Man U to play champions league football next season. Really? I though he just wanted to play in the Europa League forever? Again no quotes from anyone. It is so easy to think of an obvious statement and then make up a story about it saying that Bale has told pals. Which pals? Where are the quotes with the names of these pals?

  10. I saw that, too.

I thought I had become used to this kind of gutter-snipe irresponsible hack low-grade journo bollocks, but it still manages to irk me.

They (pretty sure it was them, they're all the same these red tops) also said similar things about Luiz, that he was angry at Chelsea for supposedly offering him to United as part of the deal for Rooney. The article was about 10 lines long and didn't contain a single quote <laugh> and was still allowed to be posted despite the club confirming on two occasions that no players were offered. Very lazy journos.

For some reason this interest from Utd doesn't worry or bother me this time.

With Sheringham, Carrick and Berbatov everytime I saw a story linking them my heart sank.

Without bacon-face they don't seem to have the same appeal and although Utd are still a bigger club than us I think this time we can keep him for another year at least or sell abroad.

    LAVM, to be competely accurate.

These Bale stories all stem from the same hackneyed hypothesis that Utd would only sell Rooney if a marquee signing was lined up to take his place. Ronaldo or Bale are the two names the press like to mention. Apparently it sells papers even if there is no basis for the speculation. Utd's supposed transfer targets have made the back page headlines in the past few days before the Open golf, Test match v Aus and Froome at the TdeF!

  15. I suspect you are correct, Little Luke.

What irks me is the complete and utter disrespect for the player's club, its fans, and the player.

I dont think we are after Bale and I hope he stays with you guys another year or 2 because hes the best chance you have of catching the other London sides.

However, for the purpose of discussion would you be interested in this deal.

    Rooney + Nani + £15million for Bale.

For me I wouldnt even consider it as a United fan but a Spurs fan on TT suggested it.

Funny that none of the papers has considered a Rooney/Suarez swap deal...

We've been over this a million times, we can not afford Rooney's wages, so any swap deal including him is ludicrous.

Additionally I wouldn't pay more than £40m for Rooney and Nani (£30m + £10m) so that plus the £15m still comes way way under our valuation of Bale.

<laugh> The transfer would be like the old swapping of spies at checkpoint charlie. Each player thrown in the direction of their new club.
