I'm sure protests could be arranged. But the truth is, the Pompey fans ****ing loved it. They enjoyed every moment and gave not a **** about how a small club like them was possibly affording these players whom were on the radar of clubs like AC Milan. But when things started going sour, they played the victim. Well guess what? You lapped up the good times, so ****ing deal with the **** that you'll get as a result This faux sympathy for those pricks down the road is hilarious.
Fine and if we knew, what would that have changed exactly? Do owners actually bother to listen to fans really? Have the Glazers responded to fan protests about them saddling Man United with debt? Has Mike Ashley responded to repeated calls for him to leave Newcastle? Would Chanirai respond to anyone? Short answer: no because he's a twat. At the end of the day, a club's owners aren't actually accountable to anyone. It's easy to say what we should have done but hindsight is 20/20. Nowadays our fans a lot more financially aware but experiences have facilitated this. Likewise, I expect Southampton fans weren't quite to so clued about the club's finances prior to going into administration several years back. Once you do go into administration, you suddenly realise the importance of a sustainable finance structure, it's like a wake-up call. A wake-up call which, tbh, a lot of clubs fans could use. Edit: Gosh, I don't know why I bother providing a decent argument when you spout out blind, hate-filled crap like this.
Fair Cmment . I have Genuine sympathy for the Pompey fans that came to SMS to support their team , none for their supporters that were more interested in Hurling insults at us than watching their team play .
Owners may not listen, but at least it would show that your fans cared about the disgusting manipulation of non-existent capital that led you to two FA Cup finals.
I don't think any of us realised the extent that things were messed up at the club. There were quite a few protests late 2009/early 2010 when all this info started coming out. Like I said, it's easy to say we should have known, but hindsight is 20/20. I think people just naturally assumed that the club was reasonably well run.
Hopefully your fans have now change their mentality. I hope to see a more prudent and financially-minded mindset from the Pimpey fanbase henceforth.
Well in truth, I'm "hoping" ours is, but I don't truthfully know. It just appears so. No-one has shown me a balance sheet or P & L
If you head on down to Saintsweb you'll find plenty of folk interested in our finances, many of whom have concluded that a recent loan was of nothing to worry about and indeed it is something to be encouraged in our position, as we can pay it back. Oh, and Liebherr left us £300m, part of which was intended for a new stadium.
Well, again like I said, I'm sure there was a change in the mentality of Southampton fans as well after the club came back from the brink. I think it's the same with Farnborough fans as well, after Farnborough Town were liquidated. And no doubt it would be the same for fans of any other club which have come close to liquidation (or even gone through liquidation itself). Adversity is an effective teacher.
a Oh, how I would like that to be true! Where do people get this stuff from though? People hear something and add a nought.
Markus left us £300m? Any idea where they got their info from? That's over 10 per cent of his wealth.
