They have a lot of good players but this summer theyve made some poor signings.

Bony - £12m??????? Has a good shot but theyve paid £10m over the odds and thats maybe being generous.

    Amat looks well dodgy.

They still have a group of players who are comfortable with the system they play and they will be a mid table side.

We will probably we somewhere in the bottom 6.

We should beat them at home though.

Their defence is well dodgy particulary if Amat and Tiendalli play.

regarding your point about Bony, it seems you overspent on Cornelius by around £8.5-9 million. Bony's scored goals in the PL and Europe. And Cornelius? Just saying like.

This was a good discussion thread on which posters from both sides were chatting quite happilly. It could be interesting an run for a while the way things have gone results-wise so far this season, and there is no need for it to descend into another slanging match.

Hilt's post at the top of this page was a perfectly reasonable statement of his own opinion, and that was followed by a perfectly reasonable response from Uplands. After that comments are typical of an infection spreading from other threads this past 24 hours.

Could posters from both sides please not ruin with the same sort of **** of a couple of months back that drove many a decent poster away.

Taff/Sheepy - guys, please keep an eye on it and delete the potential trouble making posts on this thread at least. FFS let's have a bit of sanity somewhere on here.

Agreed with Sparks, one thread ****ed up (which was a obviously open to wumming), why can't we keep it to just that one?

As Sparks says Uplands response to Hilts was fine. Neither of us can be too happy with the big outlay upfront. Then in comes the serial Wummer/totally pointless poster DPJ and the thread turns to ****.

    Sparkey for mod! :police:

I expect the Swans to go above us next weekend. We'll likely lose to Chelsea by 2 or so goals, and I can see the Swans at worst getting a draw vs Sunderland.

    :emoticon-0101-sadsm

But we'll get back on top when we beat them at the CCS!

Neutral on a visit ... have to agree with Oldsparkey - thread has become a little childish - now don't misundersand, I actually enjoy intelligent and humorous wumming ... but when it descends to unimaginative name calling it loses any charm ...

... back vaguely on track WTF is happening down in Cardiff? ... from the outside I've been incredulous at recent events ... if he's not careful, Vincent Tan willl derail what has been an vey good start for you boys ... has there been any 'official statement' either about the appointment or the rationale for putting the incumbent on gardening leave?

Board meeting arranged for Monday Fosse - doubt we'll get anything official before then.

All a matter of assumptions and conjecture at the moment mate. There seems to be a general concensus that it's all Tan's fault but I wouldn't be too sure.

No smoke without fire and all that - let's wait and see.

More and more the rumours coming out seem to say it's about Moody massively over spending on his £35m budget.

Now people can talk about VT medeling with club management all they want. He's put in/liable for around about £140m. Therefore if he says Moody has messed up his budget and wants to sack him the fact he's Malky's mate is unlikely to cut him any slack.

To be fair if Moody's in charge of the money side of the transfers and it's been messed up then it's a pretty open and shut case.

Its the chairman that signs off on transfers. The scout presents the targets to the manager, the manager decides what targets he would like to pursue, then he submits his targets to the chairman. It is then up to the chairman to make the signings happen.
How can you possibly blame a scout for over spending?

Whatever be his lack of knowledge in pure footballing matters, financial mis-management if that's what it is, would be a business crime of the highest order to Tan.

I also doubt that Moody was in absolute control of budget matters, though he'd obviously have had a huge input. Purchase price, contracts, terms and remuneration matters would never have been soley down to him.

I sometimes wonder if Simon Lim as our CEO is going to come out of this squeaky clean. If I was Tan, I'd expect my CEO to be in overall control. I'm not sure how far you can stretch the "friendship" between them - I doubt VT got his wealth through being friendly.

What usually happens is the Chairman will tell the manager what his budget will be. It would then be up to the manager to identify what positions need strengthening. He will tell his scouts what position he is looking to fill and how much he is willing to spend and how much wages he is willing to pay. The scout would go out, find a suitable player, submit it to the manager. The manager would take a look at the player, decides if he wants him, then tell the chairman this is the player he would like to sign. The chairman would then be responsible for getting in touch with the club and player and handling contract negotiations (along with the manager).
If there has been a financial mishap then the buck stops with the chairman, always.
