Sorry Swan M but you haven't got a ****ing clue how transfers are handled at our club (neither have I for that matter). Has the chairman signed off the budget and been told we have worked within it only to find out now there are clauses/bonuses that mean we aren't in budget?

Do you think that every chairman reads every player contract top to bottom? There's absolutely no chance that happens, when you're in charge you have to place your trust in the people around you, if they let you down you get rid and find people who wont.

It's not VT's job to hold the hands of the people he puts in charge of player acquisition, he signs the cheques. If he'd been kept properly informed of what was being spent I'm sure Moody would still have a job. Whether this stretches to Simon Lim as Sparks mentions remains to be seen.

That's far too sweeping a statement mate, some clubs have aquisition panels put in place for just that. Anyway, as far as we're concerned, I think you should have said our CEO Simon Lim - I do agree about that.

There seems to be some sort of misinterpretation of the cash available being for transfer fees only. FFS, that is only part of the budget - ongoing contracted wage committments can amount to to huge sums and this seems to be the crux of the matter.

Not necessarily Swans. In organisations with CEO's, the CEO is usually responsible for the day to day running of the business including ultimate responsibility for financial management - possibly in conjunction with a Finance Director.

The Chairman tends to be more of a figurehead maintaining an overview. He should trust and rely on his senior people unless he has shortcomings pointed out to him. (This is not BS as with my background I do have a bit of knowledge on such things).

I wonder if the club is in the middle of it's annual audit with issues raised where VT has had to take this action?

Bear in mind also VT cannot be a totally hands on Chairman as he is not full time in the UK. He has world wide business interests which also require his attention. As a result he must place a lot of responsibility on the CEO.

Read the first line of my post. Not once did I make reference to your club, I said what usually happens. Now thats obviously not the case at your club as your owner knows nothing about football. But it is still his responsibility to delegate correctly. And im sorry but anyone who gives the responsibility of a multimillion pound budget to a scout clearly does not know what they are doing.

Blue I understand that, but football clubs are run entirely different to your average company. The same mecahnics of the company do not apply.

Sparkey. Its not too far a sweeping statement to make at all. The buck always stops with the chairman. He is ultimately responsible for anything wrong that happens with the club. He can cast blame all he wants, but being the chairman there is no way in hell he should have allowed a budget to have been overspent by 10m by a scout. Its insane to even think about it.

EDIT: should probably read all responses first before posting :D

Ridiculous to suggest VT can micro manage every company in his empire. He obviously trusted the people put in charge, he has made a mistake.

He's rectified that mistake and the people left are under no illusions as to what the consequences are for any further mistakes.

Who said Moody was a scout? I was under the impression he was a lot higher up the ladder.

Sorry Sparkey but if we get **** from those down west, we have a right to answer it.

Or do you think that they should have carte blanche on here, the Cardiff board ?

Rectified it by appointing a 23 year old kazak who was on work experience painting the stadium and is a friend of his son?
Now if it is true that Moody was the cause of an overspend of £10m, that must mean that he had control of the full £35m that was spent. It also now means that what ever other money he is willing to spend on players is now in the hands of an inexperienced 23year old. Madness.

It would be madness if that was truly the case, but you would have to be very naive or just point scoring to believe that is the way of it.
There is no market open, so he will not be buying anyone just yet, he most probably has an insight into what Moody was involved as regards to the job and is the obvious choice to keep up with day to day stuff until this area is sorted.
Anything about Moody is just speculation at this point so I don't understand why you acting as if they are facts, you say something is madness without any real knowledge of what is actually happening, that isn't very smart.

If anybody believes that the young Kazhak will be given any responsibility at the club is frankly deluded. It is a punishment handed out to the management of the club, a statement by Mr Tan. It will come out in the wash. However for those who are gloating either our own fans or any others on this matter, then once again i will say. You havent got a scooby doo how business is conducted.

As has been said the 23 year old wont be given control of anything. If you'd followed VT other than reading sensationalised paper stories or the drivel written on your board about him you'd know that he's not the sort of bloke who'll hand control of his money to this 23 year old.

I don't know why this guy has been put in place, but this idea he's been put there because VT is some sort of bumbling muppet is just bollocks.
He's a very shrewd man, who like things done one way and one way only.

On a slighly different note why does the fact the new guy painted a wall make him inferior as is being implied.
I've done every job from sweeping up to running an 100 employee business, I've had a hand in most roles in between at some point, in our family company.
Now a lack of football experience is fine and at 23 it seems improbable at best he's ready to be head of player acqusitions at a PL club, but the fact he painted a wall has **** all to do with anything and implies people who paint walls (including part time of for free) are limited and should stick to lifes simple tasks. Maybe I'm old fashioned but if a job needs doing I'll get on with it.

If he's in charge for too long then I'll start to worry, but has anyone considered he might actually be very good with numbers/contracts therefore is in place solely to try to work out how much of a mess Moody has made? Not saying that is the case, but VT (who is not a fool) has done it for some reason, that reason could be as simple as a message to MM that VT is the absolute boss but does anyone believe MM didn't already know that.

Swans - of course the buck stops with VT, it is his business and ultimately he suffers any losses made. However, I don't know if the EDIT note was to yourself or others but did you read the last point of my comment: -

"Bear in mind also VT cannot be a totally hands on Chairman as he is not full time in the UK. He has world wide business interests which also require his attention. As a result he must place a lot of responsibility on the CEO."

From what I read the Swans Chairman spends a lot of his time getting actively involved with the club. That is his choice and as far as I know he lives locally and has local business interests. Therefore he has the ability to manage closely. Clearly VT does not so has to trust those people he employs to manage the club on a daily basis.

Cardiff is, therefore, very different to how your club is operated.

If swans- left out the cynicism and wrote as his point of view, then his posts would have more impact and validity.
Mind you, this would mean debating and not point scoring, so unlikely.

Not point scoring. Im just making the point that you are quick to speculate that Moody was dismissed for the over spending of £10m, Then you're just as quick to dismiss that this 23 year old will not be given that kind of control - even though he has been appointed in his place. Not trying to pick an arugument but it just seems that your only applying logic that suits yourselves.

Steve, im not saying someone who paints walls in not capable at all. Im just highlighting the fact that it is one hell of a jump to go from work experience (painting walls) to head of recruitment of a premier league club at the age of 23.

EDIT: Apologies for spelling and abruptness, in work at the moment.

Other than the facts that Moody has been suspended, VT has said there was a £15m budget overspend and this young lad has been given a temporary responisbility, everything else is pure speculation by all of us, Swans fans included.

It appears there is to be a board meeting on Monday and Lim, the CEO has been recalled from holiday (cue more speculation), so until that happens and hard facts are published I think every speculative angle has been covered and there is little more to be said.

I bloody hate international breaks, everything else gets totally blown out of proportion as we have little else to discuss, particularly with the problems of Coleman and the Welsh team (what is left of it). If we had club games to look forward to this weekend then we could focus on those and move away, temporarily at least, from all this crap.

Who is this to? I haven't speculated what Moody's displacement is for.
We are all on the outside looking in on this, nobody knows for sure, but using some common sense, parts are not difficult to see.
For instance, assuming you aren't in control of a multi million pound business already, would you set loose a 23 year old to control who you buy or don't if you were?
If the answer to that is no, then it makes sense that someone who has built such a business would also not. If that's a logic too far for you then let us know, at least we can see how you think then.

All this stuff is on the wrong thread and it's been pushed onto here by jacks for no reason. Jacks - please find somewhere else to discuss it if you must.

Fair enough then - but will they ever get above us?
