The 3 main points suggested in the article are (1) the season won’t be completed with no prospect of resuming next month (2) subject to sanction by the PL, which is a separate body to the EFL, the top 2 would go up - but no mention of whether that would mean a 22 team PL and a 22 team Championship if no relegation from PL and (3) no crowds at matches until Jan 2021.

For what it’s worth I’d prefer for the season to be put on hold until it can safely be resumed to avoid the endless litigation surrounding point (2) if it materialises.

However one major problem for deferring the season is the position of hundreds of EFL players out of contract next month.

It’s an administrative, legal and moral nightmare situation.

But as Scott Johnson in WOL avers football is not as important as lives.

It cannot be right in any sense to prematurely promote 3 teams with one fifth of the season to play.

If there is no provision in the constitution or rules for the season being unable to be completed then unless it’s going to be deferred it should be voided.

In what sense is it just for possibly Fulham to be promoted?

It’s hopelessly inconsistent. If the top 3 are to be mythically promoted then the bottom 3 should be relegated under the same illusion.

There has to be a better solution balancing fairness with legalities, economics and above all health and safety for all involved.
