So you think being a clubs record goalscorer also makes them their best ever player? There's been plenty at OT that were better players yet scored fewer goals and spent less time there, but yep, its good to see a scouser break the clubs scoring records in the league and Europe.
"is"? You reckon Roonaldo is their best ever based on his breaking the scoring records, as an individual player and not based on trophies won I'd say Best, Law, Charlton, Cantona, Ronaldo, Giggs to name but a few. Or....is Traore better than Cantona and or Ibra based on him having a CL winners medal?
Don't think any united fan would put Rooney near the top of best players list. Even in his prime few years we're still better players than him in that team like ronaldo, giggs, scholes. Thats before you even go back to some of the oldest like Keane, schemeichel etc
Saying who is "The Best" is a silly game anyway. Like saying what's the best film or piece of music - there's no definitive answer and it's just one more thing to argue about, for those who get off on such things.
my opinion Charlton i would argue that it is by some way as well. Best may have been the more "talented" (though i'm of the opinion people mistake style for substance) but only managed to produce at the top level for a few years - i remember seeing him & Bobby Moore play for Fulham which was just bizarre
Have all you lot not missed the fact that PJ is living vicariously through Rooney's achievements as they reflect on Everton marginally? Its not like anything in his own club could possible make him proud so stop denying him this thrice removed feeling of pride.....
So, we should be proud of him four-times removed because he's a fellow Scouser (and went to the same school as me), even though he's a bluenose/manc, bad-tempered birdbrain with a face like a puckered arse?
