The thing is, Malky wasn't for sale.... not until HE requested the move!! 2 sales (for good money) and a Chief Exec leaving is not a fire sale! Once Malky requested permission to speak to Cardiff, that was it, he was gone! Once any player (Williamson for a start,a nd Rodgers) who asks to speak to a team, we have to let them, we just have to get the best deal for them we can - we don't want a player or manager who doesn't want to be here - a team/squad/club needs everyone pulling in the same direction!
This has been GT's line now for over 30 years. If you don't want to be at Watford we won't stand in your way. Unfortunately we cannot afford to let people just walk out without some decent money coming in.
With all due respect, Elixir, you don't 'alf spout some bollocks. "It is clear to me that everything is for sale at Watford." On what basis do you make this staggeringly incisive observation? DG was going to go anyway; we got a decent price for Buckley who was out of favour. Malky's agent has a bunch of cash waved under his nose, and MM takes his 30 pieces of silver. What should Bazini do? Be blackmailed into tripling MM's contract? He can't win with you, can he?
There seems to be different stories as to whether Malky did try and resign before being given permission to talk to them. For now it seems he remains Watford manager - maybe he will stay? Unfortunatly even his improved offer we gave him will still be way below what he can get in one season with Cardiff and before bonus's so even if he is out of work this time next year his family will be secure. Not that he will, coz he's good enough.
Latest news looks like he is going and it will be finalised tomorrow. Also there are suggestions the compo will be quite high.
That's not very nice! Elixir contributes to this site with some decent debate, Garry was a massive tw@t!!!
Best of luck to MM I hope he does well and progresses his career! If Todgers was worth 500k then anything short of 1m would be cheap! Bank balance is getting better by the day But any business has to invest to have continued viability! This is the part I want to see happen!
On WFC Forums they are saying that according to Talksport and radio wales, Malky has turned them down !!!!
If thats right then its bloody magic! and we can carry on with our pre season! Thanks for that Harrow if true will improve my mood about 200%
Even if he does turn them down I'll still be disappointed because it's obvious Watford is no longer his top priority and he's more concerned about the money side of the game.
My wife has just crotched my "welcome back Aidy" bobble hat and now this. Never a smooth ride being a 'orn
