Hi Kev, Just can't see that Cardiff would have taken it this far without being pretty certain that they want Malky. Unless he goes into the interview and makes outrageous demands, I feel that terms will be met pretty quickly. Cardiff need a manager asap, and I think Malky wouldn't want to sit on this for more than a night. I just hope that after having the stability of DJ for 6 years we can get the same stability from Malky with a little more flair.
Just wishful thinking, I guess!! Maybe the clash of accents will lose something in translation.... haha I'm glad he didn't resign to push for this though... Rumours ar we may get Ardley in return!!
Siam As said above, maybe just wishful thinking.... but all indications point to Cardiff very much Malky, and Malky is interested in the job. To interview the guys you did (Shearer excluded!!) and still want Malky shows he must be held in some esteem there. You never know, one side might not like what the other is offering, but if that's the case you wonder what next for Malky as you fel he has shown his hand!
That's my worry Leo... and my first thought when the first rumours of Malky resigning this morning - although turns out to be nonsense. To push to go, you must know at least some details about what they are offering which does imply some contact before Watford agreeing to let him speak. The one thing the board MUST insist on is if Malky does go as part of the agreement, is he can't bid for any Watford players!!
Nothing against the English as such bit there are a lot of English cnuts with chips on their shoulders against Wales on this thread.
Can I ask in all seriousness....who do you think Malky would take to Cardiff if he could. Just wondering....do you mean academy players?
One thing peeing me off (well one of many) is it all seems to be about how poor Cardiff and how they need a manager in place for the new season, no one seems to give a toss about little old Watford.
This has little to do with an "anti Welsh" agenda, its just we don't want to lose Malky. However it is clear that his departure is now imminent, so where is plan B.
Siam Obvously just opinion but suggest he might try at least Eustace, Taylor and maybe Cowie from our first team. There there would be a couple of Academy players he may be interested in like Sordell, Murray, Massey, Thompson.... He may decide he won't come for any of them, but as I understand it, you have let a lot of players go so he will need to rebuild the squad, and he will try and get people he knows in!
That is a bit harsh Clash - there has been very little talk about Cardiff being a Welsh club on this thread - it has appeared before when debating why a Welsh team does not play in the Welsh league - but that is a fair question is it not? Our main topic is about Cardiff not being a bigger club than Watford - at least over the last 40 years - they have just come up in th elast 3 years or so. Also - if you read our threads you will see we don't even bother to use disguised abuse like cnuts - says more about your opinion of the English than vice versa. If you have a point to make then get it accurate
Cardiff isn't wales anyway, its carediff and the rest of wales see them as another nation, I can talk as I'm half welsh with half my roots in the valleys.
Yes, thats why I was interested. A MC (Eustace) would be most welcome. But don't get me wrong I hope they do make it part of the deal that we can't buy your players. It's hard enough to lose your manager without 2-3 good players as well!!
i've been saying that for the last two days..poor flippin' Cardiff...still, if they get a Manager in place, at least they'll be okay..who gives a toss about Watford! grrrrrr!
We'll survive, we always do!! We'll just get the next up-and-coming manager and get him nicked in a couple of years time!
in Welsh Cardiff is Caerdydd. we don't HAVE to sell players just because a club comes asking - with or without a deal - any more than we have to let a manager leave who is under contract - it all depends on the person's attitude should you try to make them stay.
Spot on Suffolk, I think its indicative of our fall from grace. We have Cardiff fans coming on here saying thanks for Malky, have you tried looking for your next manager in the lower leagues. It makes me think Cardiff must be in the men's league and we are just in the little boys league. I am certainly worried about what Malky could take with him in our current "fire sale". It is clear to me that everything is for sale at Watford. We probably have some furniture that was being used by the Community team who were closed down in March, who wants that stuff? I feel all this saga has done is put us well behind where we should be - pre season starts in 10 days time and Baz now has to lead us out of this shambles. No manager, no chief exec - I would accept the player sales were inevitable, but to lose the leaders of the club on and off the pitch this late in the close season makes us vulnerable.
