When Kenny was at Blackburn he changed to Director of Football.

If, and its a big if, Rafa should return I cannot see him getting along with Camolli at all. But I do think he could get along fine with Dalglish.

I'd hate to see Kenny leave the club altogether considering he was originally promoted from with in.

That is the most common sense post I've seen on here.

I accept, and respect, your opinions of him as a man after the disaster. I do not fully follow the "greatest in a Liverpool shirt" mantra, but it up to Liverpool fans to decide who is a legend for your club.

As a Manager, he has not done well, and never without buckets of cash. His employment was emotional and not logical, he should have done the Bobby Charlton thing if he wanted to help the club, and maintain his 'legendary' status for you fans.

His handling of the Saurez Incident was appalling, and one day, Glen johnson may be able to admit to his embarassment. Perhaps some of Dalglish's "badgeman on a grassy knoll/ henry higgins" supporters will too. Your theories were/are ridiculous. His purchases have been duff, and his knowledge of the modern game lacking, as he proved all that time ago when taking Blackburn into Europe.

Not sure why such a furore over losing 2-0 to Newcastle though. On their day, they could do that to anyone, at home, at least. Perhaps it's the angst caused by the knowledge that your 35 Million quid more than funded newcastle's team building?

So, it's not really get him out, but why the hell did you appoint him in the first place, he wasn't retired for nothing you know.

He brought him back because the fans were divided after the debacle of the Roy Hodgson era. Everything was in ruined and what better way to get EVERYONE back on board by appointing a club legend which is what he did.
 
Let's dispel one fact straight away. Dalgliesh did not spend any money. Liverpool Football Club spent whatever money has been spent and this has been a board decision sanctioned by the owners.

If you want to criticise Dalgliesh then do so on his performance of his prime responsibility, the performance and development of the players. To my mind, a different story emerges when you do that.

In the latter days of Rafa's reign the style of our play was at best pragmatic (the true reasons for that will not become clear until some major players and personnel from within the club feel free to make their opinions known). That pragmatism deteriorated dramatically under Hodgson to the extent that more than just a new manager was desperately needed. The new owners (with the majority of the fans approval) turned to Dalgliesh to turn things around. If you look at what he has achieved at the end of last season and for the major part of this season then his management can be considered as a major success.

Our style of play has improved dramatically, the deadwood that seriously hindered our ability to sign new players was dispatched and the re-building of a new squad (with clear guidelines) was embarked upon. It has to be noted that this squad has had less than one season to gel. However injuries and events have had a serious effect upon the squad. We have had long injury spells for Kelly, Johnson, Agger, Lucas, Gerrard, Carroll and Bellamy. The whole Suarez thing has had a significant effect upon both the player and the squad. No Redman would be stupid enough to deny that we have been profligate in front of goal - but that has been a season-long problem. However, we have so far had a season wherein we have either lost or drawn games that we have dominated - culminating in the loss to Arsenal.

At the start of the season, we described ourselves as "work in progress". Whilst many of us believed that 4th was obtainable, others cautioned that it may be a season too early. It appears that they were right. However, given the issues listed above and the problems that we have had settling the squad I believe that Dalgliesh has had one of those seasons wherein the points tally only tell a part of the total picture.

So should Dalgliesh resign? The simple answer is no. Like every manager, he has made mistakes but he has had a major part to play in putting the squad on-course to achieving the objectives that our owners have set.

No Hodgson was still worse and always will be. Claiming a loss to Everton was the best game he'd had as Liverpool manager will always set him at the bottom of the pile.

In hindsight, it might have been a mistake to name Kenny manager at the end of last season. He was the right man to take over after the disaster of Woy, but in the summer it might have been right to find a new manager and given them the summer and this season to rebuild. Problem with removing Kenny now (and it would be stupid to sack him at the point in the season) would it would mean the club would be too many changes in such a short space of time, look at what that kind of thing has done for Chavski over the last few years.
However Kenny is the manager now and I would think he will in charge next season as well, next season and the summer will be the big test for him. At the moment I support Kenny, but if there arent signs of improvement next year and better signings are made to address clear problems Kenny's position might become untenable.

wummery aside, which i admit you have every right to try on, you guys have to do better than that.
