Was on talksport today.

Saying he still wants to play for Sunderland, wants to prove himself and doesn't know why it hasn't worked etc.

One of the interesting parts is, he still lives in the midlands, and travels around 7 hours a day to get to training etc.

The club offered to re home him nearer to the club which he refused. Surely the commuting must take its toll on him as a player. He must be getting up daily around 5am, then not getting home till late.

It must play a factor in his below par performances so far in a Sunderland shirt.

Wasn't there a rumour of family trouble?
 
Its beyond bad if this player refuses to live where the club pays his wages. That should have been a condition of his employment, so while I think Grigg is out of order, I point the finger at the people who negotiated his contract, simplest thing in the world to insert a condition, if you want to play for Sunderland you live in the region...

The way that Donald acted when buying him I think Grigg could’ve asked for anything and he would’ve got it off him

Or a reason not to sign him! If we were premier league and he had a helicopter then so be it! But we're a third division club who need everyone on the ball. Another own goal by Donald and co! Piss taking party starts here!

There's plenty of jobs where you need to be within a certain distance of the premises to be able to do it and it is part of your contract though usually it's because of on-call commitments.

It's one thing being over 30 minutes away and quite another being as far away as he is, given the money spent surely they'd force him to be put up for a few days a week so he can be fresh for training/ the matches. Too late now of course, if they want to change his contract it would require negotiation and they'd probably end up giving him a few mill signing on fee...
 
So, he wants to stay and get it all right at last.
Give it all for the cause?

Nowt to do with not being able to get the same money elsewhere then.

I expect that he will run his contract down.
And we can't blame him for that, particularly in the present circunstances.

If he wasn't willing to move we should never have bought him in the first place.

Seven hours travelling each day man. Mental.
 
sick to death of hearing about Will Grigg and why things haven't quite worked out up to now. He's being paid a large amount of money each week to score goals for Sunderland , he needs to start producing the goods, or **** off somewhere else and we'll replace him. In any other line of work he'd have been sacked by now for not doing his job properly. I'm finished with the lazy overpaid piece of ****.

Not far short of Rodwell and Moyes in my estimation, none of them ever looked bothered or interested, at least Moyes had the decency to walk away. one viewing of Grigg formed my opinion that we had singed another Altidore, it was to get worse game by game, his performance at Wembley was dire and has cost this club more than even Rodwell's contract has done. I would pay him to stay away tbh.

I had no idea that this bloke was commuting this far so often. He is ****e anyway, but putting himself through that he will never even look like a footballer.

You wouldn't allow a good player to travel those distances, never mind a frightened plodder. Whoever sanctioned this deal should be sacked themselves. Except of course........

Buying a player with an injury was crazy as well.

Wyke was the same yet we didn't learn.

I think that’s very harsh... on lazy over paid pieces of ****!

ive seen so little from him effort wise. He never looks like he wants to play ffs!!
