I think he should remain club captain and captain on the pitch. IMO he is a good captain, leads my example AND shouts his mouth off. If he is injured/benched i wouldn't be unhappy at it going to Verts or Lloris. I think defensive positions make better captains. Sandro is too much of a joker, you don't want the club clown as your captain. Note - i'm not dissing Sandro's ability, but there are plenty of vids around proving Sandro clowns around a considerable amount
If it's given to the most senior player, there's no decision to make and there's no friction. It's how a lot of the foreign teams operate. Giving it to Kaboul, as a reward for training hard to overcome his injury, was a nice touch, as long as Dawson knew about it before hand.
I think the position should be given to the player who is the best at diplomacy, and able to make that link between player and manager. Perhaps the reason why it is so often the most senior player who gets the arm-band is simply down to the fact that he knows what goes on best at the club, and the newer and younger players naturally turn to him for advice or to whom they express their concerns?
Ideally I want us to have an English captain and this isn't anything to do with not trusting a foreign player, just I believe there has to be the right balance, the flair and expansive, natural talent that foreign players bring but we also need English qualities to balance again. drive us forward and be the backbone of the team, that's why Dawson is important as he is a superb pro, doesn't shy away from shouting, never say die attitude, trains hard and would always bring players back down to earth if they underestimate how tough certain teams can be. Clearly Dawsons position is going to be challenged, as we have Dawson, Kaboul, Verts and now Vlad, so he may well lose his place, yet I hope he keeps up his form and remains captain.
Just think, six years ago Bale wasn't even the main focus of his unveiling... please log in to view this image
Real Madrid vice-president Fernando Fernandez Tapias accuses Tottenham of holding up the transfer of Gareth Bale, who has again chosen not to train with Spurs. Asked if the Welshman's move will be complete he tells Spanish news agency Efe: "I think so, but I couldn't swear on it. We're going to wait because they are dragging their feet. There is no doubting Bale's class, but Real Madrid without Bale is a great Madrid, we have a team of warriors." Good work Levy my son!
Wait. What? It's slightly off again? Our very own AVB has telling little white porkies pies? A ruse? Sleight of hand? Huh?
What we have going on here is a classic case of reverse psychology. AVB says the deal is done and that Bale is on strike, normally the effect of this would be for the transfer price to be reduced, but RM have fallen for it and have released a statement making the transfer seem less likely in order to drive the price up again. Well done AVB/Levy
It's all beyond me.Another player at Spurs about to depart(?) going a little dipsy. I thought players would prefer to play if fit not sod about not turning up for training! For Gord's sake Real.Sign him or not. For Gord's sake Gareth.Sign the forms or not. Let's get it done so we can get on...... It's getting a little childish now!!!!!!!
I suspect that Levy is leaving it to the 11th hour to make it as difficult as possible for United, Chavs or Gunners to do any business with Real.
That's exactly what I think Levy is doing, although only thinking about Arsenal, rather than all three. I reckon Wenger has all his hopes nailed on a couple of Madrid's surplus players coming in, but Chelsea will be more or less done now and United look like we're going to do nothing apart from bid low and get rejected. I'd like to think we'd be in for Ozil or Modric though. Good moves from Levy, Wenger will be spitting feathers cos there's no way Real will release players until they've strengthened their squad.
