I would like to say that it was untill yesterday i was one of Wilbrahams crittics. I can now understand why he is in the team and worthy of a prem squad place. When he has come in he has been brilliant. I thought his first prem game he was just energetic as we all would be given a chance to play in the best league in the world. He has consitantly been a pain in the oppositions defences arse and he gives us another option up top!! Lambert has proved again he has an eye for a good player, no matter how under rated they maybe.
Ithought he played great yesterday and was worthy of starting again next week against the Mancs.
What a headache for lambert with Holt, morrison and jackson also having good seasons too!!

Amen bro.

Wilbraham's work rate is relentless. He links up superbly with Holt. It's a huge credit to Paul Lambert though, would any other manager have put so much faith in the man?

as a constant backer of wilbraham, the thing which always got on my tits was that some people simply refused to give him a chance based on how much he cost or his age or his goal record or whatever reason they could think of! everybody knows he is not ever going to be a world beater, and he isn't going to be a prolific goal scorer as generally, he never has been - what he has always been is a very talented hold up player, who others can play off, a player who can link the midfield to the strikers, who can create chances, win headers in both boxes and run his heart out. all at a cost of less that 100k. if he was 21 years of age and playing as well as he currently is, he'd probably be valued about £5m. he has got better with age, and his relationship with holt is also important - they are great mates. just goes to show, you should watch what a player does on the pitch before you write them off. don't just look at their goal record or who they played for previously <ok>
 
I've always liked Wilbraham as well. He's not neccesarily a goal scorer, but I was really pleased he scored one against Fulham. He is good at setting up attacks or goals, though. I was noticed this ever since the Doncaster game. Everybody said he was bad, but in my opinion he was the best player on the pitch, holding the ball up, using his strength well and flicking the ball on for others. I hope the fans back him at Carrow Road from now on.
 
He has played ok and should be applauded for his effort, but as several of you have already said, isn't going to score many goals and that isn't his main role, which is fine. He does play an important role and highlights that his (albeit limted ) hold up play and links to the midfield is integral to the team. I realise that this isn't a glowing tribute.
 
Yup, I'm another who has always backed 'Alby' up and was one of the few who could see past his goals scored column to see what else he had to offer the club. Used to do my head in when people got on his back and saying we should get rid of him without knowing anything about him at all or probably having never seen him play.

Nice to see him getting the recognition he deserves at last, he put in an immense shift yesterday - as he does whenever he gets any minutes on the pitch - and I hope his nasty cut above his eye doesn't keep him out of action for the weekend <ok>
Anyone see the pic of his war wound that Holty tweeted last night? Looks proper nasty does that!
 
Being controversial here. Do you think he will be here next year at this time if PL is given money to strengthen and chooses a couple of strikers?
PL is loyal to his players but having played himself knows that there is a sell by date. He moved out players who he thought had done enough eg Doc.

i think he'll still be here in august. very difficult to say more long term than that - anything could happen. he's such a big presence in the dressing room and he's proven he is capable on the pitch too. why would we be in any hurry to offload? <ok>
 
While I think Morison is the better player, Wilbs works harder so is justifiably ahead of him at the moment.
 
I don't see why Wilbraham would be going next summer, but lots of people seemed to before the last 3 games (On everyone's expected out lists.) The simple thing is, except Holt, Drury and Hoolahan, all of our players are Lambert signings and that means they come with a quality guarantee because Lambert didn't buy them for no reason.

That would have been a reasonable assumption based on him never starting a game in the Prem. I did the sums and there are no young strikers on our books under 21 to add to the squad as far as I know, so if we strengthen and we must assume thats each department, then probably Martin would be one and Wilbur would have beeen the next to make room for two new strikers.
Of course if he gets a run, we continue with that system and he continues with that form, then age means nothing.
 
Wilbraham, given a run in the team over the next season or 'two' could be a revelation. I don't agree that he won't score goals for us, every time he's come on he's had shots at goal and most of them on target, the ones that the keeper has parried or just bounce around in the box have been turned in by other players, Holt's goal against Everton for instance. It's a personal thing, but I like a player who isn't afraid to shoot on sight and Wilbraham does that. He's fit, quite quick for his size and works well with Holt, so I don't think his age is an issue. A very very underestimated team member in my opinion.

I'll hold my hands up, I didn't think he'd be good enough for the Prem, but I've found myself eating my words as Everton (twice), Man Utd and Spurs defence all tried and failed to deal with him
 
We have Holt, Morison, Jacko, Alby, Vaughan and Chris Martin. Of these Chrissy looks the most vulnerable and is the most likely to be sold - due to his age he'd probably attract a larger fee than Alby whom I expect to, and would like to see, remain at Carrow Road. We all hope that Vaughan will be fit for next season as he will give us an additional option and I would expect us to sign at least one more striker - as has been reported elsewhere we have shown an interest in Albion's Chris Wood who is quite useful in my opinion.

Alby looks a bit awkward at times but has already proved he is a handfull and isn't afraid to get stuck in and does have a tendency to shoot whenever he sees sight of goal. Hope he starts against the Moneybags on Saturday !
 
1p5wich were trying to sign him in the January window, so glad they didn't as they'd be rocketing up the table by now!
