In his case I think they are. Nobody else would have given him a contract. He’s under no pressure. He has no incentive. He knows it will probably be his last managerial job. He will run his contract down sucking up to the owner with a minimum of fuss. For solely the benefit of himself that’s his best move. No fuss, get loans in, do things the way they were under Mick. For the good of the club he should be looking to address the weaknesses in the squad - creative midfield, strikers, full backs, centre backs - by signing a couple of faces in those positions. We also need a clear out - to offload some players from the midfield. The loans should go back even if we continue to pay their wages, with the exception of Pennington. Some of the squad need their cages rattling.
If he simply treads water we're definitely down.I'd like to think he's incentivised to at least keep us up,if not built towards something better,but given the identity of our owner perhaps I'm deluding myself.
