Massively overspending is the cause of their problems, losses of £17m for the last two seasons alone, I doubt they'll be able to convince anyone they're innocent victims of a virus.
I didn’t know so didn’t comment. It says independent accountants are hired to investigate. If that is the case then yes. That said they’ve won all 3 since the restart and we only have a 4 point head start. A win and a draw and they’re above us at least. So I don’t think it matters much to us what happens with Wigan.
EFL Statement - Wigan Athletic As a result of Wigan Athletic confirming they have entered into administration, the Club will be subject to a 12-point deduction and, in accordance with EFL Regulations, the timing of the sporting sanction can only be determined once final league placings in the Championship are determined. If in the event the Club is relegated by virtue of their final position following the conclusion of the Championship season, then the deduction will apply in League One in 2020/21.However, if the Club is not in the relegation places following the final game of season, the sanction will be then be applied to their season 2019/20 total and final league standings amended as appropriate. The EFL is awaiting formal notification from the Administrators and once the League has received this it will commence discussions with the relevant individuals with the aim of achieving a long-term future for the Club.
They were only taken over very recently. Probably by a concern who had no idea on how to run a football club....Now where have I heard that before?
I don't 'like' this in the sense of liking it, but it is most probably the reality. It would take a remarkable turn around in our form to survive, even to finish anything other than rock bottom. That's just the reality.
Wednesday might be next, they were unable to pay all of their players in full for June. https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/53242237
Real shame. Small town trying to support two codes, in the shadow and a short bus ride from the darlings of the Premier League. They go bust whilst up the road Manchester City spend £55m on one player.
There's no danger of them going tits up. They'd just ask every fan to donate £1. That would bring in 78 million pounds just like that.
Surely you have to spend to get up, easy peasy, that’s what experts are clamouring for on here for us
If Wigan as a club is sold again. They will have changed owners 3 times whilst we haven’t managed to rid ourselves of the two halfwits.
What will happen regarding playing staff, I suppose they have the option to play for nothing or walk away do they.
