Wigan have done well so far, but don't panic too much just yet. We are trying a different system, you can tell this because we have two up front ! Obviously we are out of form, lacking confidence, but the lads are trying. Better second half to come.
Hughes remarked that the team found his training hard....which surprised him. The biggest complaint about MP2 was his failure to act and the subs he chose....be interesting to see what MH does in the second half. He will be learning a lot about the team from this game. Of course we aren't the only team on the pitch and Wigan have pulled off some good results in this Cup and are doing well in the league, but we should be doing a better show than this. Yup. Energy is the word that keeps springing to mind. We still look sluggish. During the international break Hughes could do worse than get them out running up sand dunes like Strachan used to.
we are clueless going forward, the midfield is just inviting them into our half. No fight in this team and are center backs are slow and cumbersome. Cedric is having a nightmare performance and Tadic is invisible. But hey we are not losing. The problem Hughes faces is that he only has three subs and he needs about 6.
I'm not really surprised how the games gone so far. Though I'd hope we'd have a bit more of the ball. It's classic team in lower leagues who are in form and up for it as underdogs VS PL team who have been poor all season and with no confidence. Add in poor pitch and strong winds and it was never going to be pretty. Important thing is we haven't conceded and when we have got hold of the ball, we've moved it forward much quicker! I'm not disheartened yet!! It's not like we've given up like in some games this season.
