Wigan Athletic vs Arsenal: Match Thread.

I wouldn't say we look shaky, more that Wigan are working very hard and contesting every ball. Credit where's it due Kyle, it's not always down to us not playing well

 

Wigan are ****, we're allegedly a top side. We should be doing better. These idiots concede goals for fun, we've only had 1 shot on goal.

 

If these guys had a final ball, we'd be about 3-0 down.

They are not playing **** in this game, they are working hard, contesting every ball and making it difficult for us. You can only beat the team that are before you on the day and you have to earn every victory.

Woeful first half, the way both Podolski and OXO just lost the ball in the last minute of stoppage time summed everything up.

Yes, Wigan are pressing and making it hard, but we're also making it hard on ourselves by playing too close to one another and playing it tight, rather than using space of the pitch, and that makes it easier for Wigan to press and cause us to lose the ball.

 

Not a great half, but credit to Wigan they worked really hard.

I think we need to up the work rate and speed the game up in the 2nd half. I think Wigan will try to play a similar game, so we need to be quicker to the ball and quicker with our passing.

I'm still confident we can get all 3pts here

 

Chamberalin is pissing me off today. Everytime he gets the ball its just 'head down and run at defenders'. He's missed NUMEROUS chances to play in Walcott and Carzorla.

I would rather we brought Rosicky on and played him wide. I'm willing to bet Wengers sub will be Ramsey though.

 

My my, not a completely inept defense and Walcott might as well not be there at all... Who'd a thunk it? Oh wait, 7 years of precedent.

Put Walcott on the right Podolski mid, and Gervinho on for Oxo on the left.

 

Credit to Wigan but I think the worrying thing is that we are almost always matched by the 'lower' teams these days.

In the past, we'd have a swagger and confidence. Our team believed they were better than most of the teams in the league. I don't think we believe this anymore. We shouldn't be losing the midfield battle against Norwich, Wigan and Bradford.

 

As for the yellow card to Wilshere, dear oh dear. That was a brilliant tackle.
