Finally got to see it on the telly. Ouch! Surprised he only got a yellow for it. The other thing is that I'm sure I actually seen it in reverse in the stream. Threw me a bit to see it the right way round.
I was thinking earlier, Bielsa saw the potential in Harrison week in week out last year, when the entire fan base were pulling their hair out. He knew it was a matter of when, not if, he moved up a gear. This year he’s coming good, and we can sign him on a perm as Shako says.
Looking forward to Brentford, interesting thought - do you think Jansson is better suited to defending against, Bamford or Nketiah? Or flipping it, who do you think has the better chance of scoring with Jansson in defence, Bamford or Nketiah? Answers on a postcard...
Wouldn't be surprised if Jannson gets sent off,he won't be happy, now he's realised where his gob has got him.
I read an interview with him recently. He spent the summer getting ready, but there was as much mental work as physical work. Apparently he got help on the mental side & it was discovered that he was actually trying too hard to impress & it was buggering up his natural game. The abuse he got on t'internet didn't help either - that's what made him try too hard. I think I know what he's talking about. Watched a (BBC Horizon?) documentary a number of years ago re alpha vs beta waves in your brain. To put it unscientifically, & with poor memory, alpha waves are 'unconjured', like when you drive along & find yourself 50 miles down the motorway & don't know how you got there. Beta waves are where you try to concentrate. Pretty sure the example they gave (& measured) was that Nordic ski/shooting sport. The best shooters were in Alpha mode - i.e. not giving it too much thought & getting on with it, & the poorer ones were in beta mode - i.e. perhaps not as confident in their own ability and over-concentrate. That's the gist of it anyway, so I get Harrisons problem.
I think the best way to deal with Pontus is to give him the ball & make a space for him to run forward. Means he'll leave a gap at the back that he shouldn't, then he'll lose the ball, so we'll knock it into the space where he should have been, & your granny would be able to score it. Well, either that or we just don't allow him anywhere near the ball. Then he can't go down injured or do anything else to draw attention to himself, rendering him an unstable emotional wreck as no-one is looking at him admiringly.
Its fine bud i never take your scything comments seriously anyway. To reply if you dont do Bielsas bidding expect a whopping pay rise and a new club.
Just a point ref klich he seems to fade early or is it just me. What with the polish games coming up i await to see if we rotate the midfield and bench him because last season he lost his fitness for the run in.
Pontus wont have a clue about Eddie and his capabilities, he will be so pumped up for it, I’d play Eddie and instruct him to run at Pontus non stop and draw a bad tackle from him. Bielsa wont change a winning team so he’ll start with Bamford. Saying all that I’d hate for Pontus to crock Eddie
Just found these stats for Phillips: Kalvin Phillips vs Bristol City: • 6 long balls attempted • 5 long balls completed Kalvin Phillips vs Nottingham Forest: • 15 long balls attempted • 11 long balls completed Kalvin Phillips vs Wigan Athletic: • 20 long balls attempted • 16 long balls completed Also read that Douglas had a very good games, his passes to Harrison were partly why Harrison saw so much of the ball enabling his game to flourish. Bielsa said last season Forshaw was a positional midfielder, this season he is playing better as a midfielder instructed to help Klich and Phillips depending on the opposition and the way the game is going. Against 10 men Phillips was able to direct play at the back and Forshaw was able to stay further forward with Klich. Was Harrison or Forshaw the official mom?
4 games in 10 days coming up before the International break. Changes will be made because we all know Pablo will not manage it, so expecting Costa to break into the team for a start. Wonder what the plan is for replacing Phillips in the event if an injury or suspension. Will it be young Alfie? Forshaw in his new role moved back?
Possible word of caution for Wednesday night. Pontus will have a wealth of information on each of our players and possible weak points to our system. Might help them make life difficult for us especially if we can’t get an early lead
Doubt he's that bright Eire. If we play to our strengths we should beat them. Although they have been a difficult team to play over recent seasons.
Two nice comfortable victories in Lancashire over the last week please log in to view this image we played some exquisite football in a game we should have won by more once again, too many wrong options & wasted opportunities, all the same we were extremely pleasing on the eye. Positives We remained calm & patient when Wigan went down to ten men this time. Bielsa's football a joy to watch. Two tap-ins for Bamford, poacher goals we need to score more often, three in a week now. Kalvin immense again. The conductor of the orchestra in our team. Jack Harrison skills on the wing, a joy to watch even though he needs to improve his crossing. Forshaw's high quality performance, surely his first goal for Leeds is coming. Kiko at his best yesteday, totally in control. Can't understand the criticism he receives. Cooper & White immense particularly taking care of Wigan's big forward. Dallas has made that RB position his own for now, some lovely surging runs. Even though Pablo had a quieter game we still performed well. Clean sheet. Three points. Negatives Still not clinical enough, we had oceans of space to really hurt them! Ratings 9 Casilla 8 Dallas 8 White 8 Cooper 7 Douglas 9.5 Phillips (MOTM) 7 Hernandez 7 Klich 9 Forshaw 9 Harrison 9 Bamford
