Perfect example of how team work,
A one on one turns into a one on eight, only one wigan player even tried to get up the park.

Once again we dominated possession & played some scintillating football but failed to capitalise on taking a woeful Wigan side to the cleaners, once we were gifted a second goal the floodgates should have opened & Leeds fans should have witnessed a battering our slick football warranted. A win is a win & three points is great but we need to be more clinical in front of goal.

    Positives

Our general play is so pleasing on the eye.
    Hernandez's performance.
A masterclass from Phillips, hardly put a foot wrong.
    Our first goal.
    Defending better at corners
Coming from behind to win the game
    Three points.
    We're top of the league.

    Negatives

    Conceding from yet another set-piece.
Not finishing off a poor Wigan side, would have been an injustice had the Latics equalised
    Yet another poor referee

Superb, 8 players back means everyone got back apart from Roofe and Pablo who had gone down when we lost the ball - every friggin player

Agree with most of this, didn’t think Philips was all that today... gave the ball away a few times with some poor passes. Solid but wasn’t in my thinking for MOM. Klich, Douglas, Pablo the 3 standouts for me, though it was more about the team than individuals.

The only additional negative from me was the defensive communication, a few mix ups between keeper and centre halves.

Quite a bit better than last year but not keeping up with the eventual champions form.

Big difference for me is he used to rush in and give away a foul and often hot booked. Now his tackles tend to work. Think that’s due to combination of experience and good coaching. Distribution has improved, think that’s due to plsying deeper.

Nah. You can’t say don goodman is a tool and then agree with his MOM. Or ignore the fact that loads of sheep on other forum’s just agree with sky because they can’t form an opinion on their own:biggrin:

Seriously there was a spell in the game where he gave the ball away cheaply two or three times. Other than that he was solid but it was a cushioned ride, Wigan we’re hopeless. He was good but not the stand out for me.

I have already eaten all my hats re Phillips this year... he’s been great... but I’m down to my last beanie and the weather is turning, so I’m not eating another one today!!

It’s true Wigan had little up front. Just as well because I still don’t see Dallas as a defender.

Wigan had little up front because Philips kept taking the ball off them and wouldn't give it them back <whistle>

Morning all. 2 interesting things from that -

Sheffield United were ahead of the fabled 2 points per game after 16 played and are still stuck here now.
Fulham aren't even in the top half.

Moral of the story? There's a long way to go. <ok>
