Remember when we had that situation under Poyet, it was terrifying.

Leading the press is where we will struggle to get close to Stewart. If these are a team that tries to play out from the back but can't do it well with the players available then I back us to get a goal through him pouncing on a loose ball!

Great thread as always RTB. Thanks again for taking the time to do it. Looking forward to this one as I'll be with my son and grandson. I don't think it will be as easy as some think. Players must have the right attitude to win the early battles. Hopefully class will then tell. Its a potential banana skin but I hope 3 points come our way which on form they should. Keep the faith lads and lasses.

The height of Ballard and Stewart has arrived just in time for this game. Looking at Wigan's recent games tells a story we're all aware of. Despite being at the bottom they score in most games in a very L1 way.

Swansea away ... Two headers from McClean corners

Blackpool home - McClean corner and a Tilt header

Boro away - goal from a cross

Wigan seem to sit back and play like Blackpool did with little pressing and long balls to the wingers. We either have to press to stop them or prevent crosses coming in. And, please, don't give away daft corners and free kicks.

Will it be three at the back and wing backs <whistle>

We have plenty cover, just a few niggling injuries are limiting our options. Quite possible Cirkin, Gooch and Batth could be available tomorrow

Mowbray being coy about injuries, but I assume the obvious ones will be out, or bench at best

I'd love to see what TM does once (if ever) everyone is fit. He seems to favour Alese over Cirkin, but where does he fit Batth, Ballard and O9 into the same team?

Great problems to have of course

I think alese gets to nod at the moment because of his height. We can be quite a small team if certain lads don’t play

I'd say that Cirkin is better in the air than Alese

I wouldn’t argue. I like alese, but if they’re both fit cirkin is the favourite from me
