Well that was ****e. We got away with murder but I can't complain. I'd have taken a point with our first 11.
Nige had a mare tonight IMO. Bit early to start slowing down. Get promoted and then we can start resting players.
Why so many knickers getting in a twist? We are so far ahead of 3rd place its almost funny and we have 3 games in 1 week. Its not rocket science, players needed resting......players WERE rested. 20 games unbeaten. SWEET!!
People like to have something to moan about. This season has been **** for the moaners. Despite getting 2-2 away from home in arguable the fourth most difficult fixture of the season (and just days after we won the most difficult), people were always going to have a go tonight because of the changes (unless we won convincingly, which was never going to happen by the way). But I'll ask this - when did Drinky AND James ever score in one match? What tonight shows me is that we're more than just a capable first 11. Forest have gone 10 without a win with six first teamers out, including against teams in the bottom three - at home. We can rest half our first team and still get results in very testing fixtures.
I would have prefered that he made those changes against Wednesday, but you can't make that many changes against a team in 5th place and think you can get a win.
Once in how many pairings? To be fair, Hammond hasn't figured much this season, so can't imagine we'll see much of him in the Prem. King, as you say, is a useful for pop up with a goal. Can't see why he can't do that in the Prem. Besides, who's to say what was behind Nige's thinking? Perhaps it was to find out which of our reserves could cut in the Prem. Wigan's side is full of ex-Prem players, and a good side too. He knows what the first team is capable of.
Can you imagine the out rage if we had lost! Pearson out! Seriously though even if we had played our "usual" 11, I would have been delighted with a point. We remain unbeaten. Could Alan Youngs prediction come true!
All in all a good result. I can sort of understand why we rotated some players, but I ain´t so sure about 6 & some of those rested ??? Friday & the next game I expect our best XI to get the job done, I think we may well have secured 2nd by then (imo). Will Vardy be back ? "UTF"
Far better they rotate/rest some of the squad in an away game albeit a very tough one. We will probably get the majority of the 11 the played the previous half dozen back for Friday. Pleased both King and Hammond played and scored, we still need to test the squad depth every now and then. What we don't see is how hard they push Drinkwater and James in training which in turn makes them perform on the pitch.
Overall it was a very good performance by 'the team' - we were way off being as fluid as with the usual line up and the guys that came in, at times, showed that they had not been playing regularly - but everybody did their bit and there were flashes of the 'first team' style periodically. King's was an excellent finish, demonstrating again one of his best attributes. Mahrez again showed what a potential talent he is. You could also see why Konchesky and Lloyd will both find it hard to displace the guys that have come in for them. I would have been critical if we'd lost after making 6 changes as that would have been a self-inflicted loss of both an incredible record and momentum - but the gamble paid off and we should have a well rested first XI for Friday's game - so credit where it's due - I think the management took a view that the lads coming in would be mortified to cost the team that record - and so it proved - we looked dangerous every time we attacked.
If you work hard at work, supporting your colleagues and jumping in to the breech when needed, then you would hope for some reward. That happened last night. Guys, we are going up! No problem here.
