From now on Gideon will only be known as Gideon Osbourne. On this thread. If Jeremy was known as Cuthbert or Leslie feel free to link his pubetic name swap.
The right wing agenda that we had been cushioned from throughout the coalition is coming more and more to the fore now. There will be a lot of Tory voters I suspect who will be bleating in the next couple of years, and yes, you did vote for them, it is now time to pay the price. Possibly if you are old with your house.
Raise the bar CT. Not sure I've read more disappointing words on this forum than your efforts on 68/69. Popping you on ignore fella, not because I think you'll give a damn, but because I don't want to remind myself that people like you actually exist.
Errr British Railway was doing very well in fact at the time it was one of the few profitable railways in Europe. Yes I wasn't counting the money from reselling them but you're ignoring the income instead. British Rail was developing all manner of fantastic products InterCity being prime example the reason the railway went tits up was Thatcher was a renouned railway hater she tried to get the Intercity project shut down & she then succeeded in shutting down the similar project they had lined up for the provincial lines which would have lead to higher speed trains on non mainline routes. It wasn't over money it was just she hated trains. Yes the APT project was a bit of a dog BUT it was shut down just as they were getting it right which would have given us the Virgin Pendolino trains in the 80s imagine that! Really the railways under public ownership since post WW2 have been run into the ground with lack of investment in upgrading track & signalling. Anyway if you think public ownership can't work then you simply need to look at the East Coast Mainline, after stage coach walked it defaulted to an "at arms length" public ownership situation. If you then look at stats like punctuality, customer service etc they hugely improved and there were many calls for it to be left with them but despite the huge improvements it was tendered off again. Also let's not forget the absolute farce that was the West Coast tender where it transpired the whole thing had been run wrong, virgin went to court so how much money did that waste? Renationalised utilities are a tougher one of course but given the **** that all us mere mortals get crapped on with huge bills I don't see how anyone can argue to support the current situation especially with a toothless regulator. The NHS could do with being run that way, bring all the trusts back together run it as a central body with one set of central management instead of replicating management at each hospital not to mention the amount of hired equipment because it looks cheaper over each individual financial year. If you're visiting people in hospital the amount of equipment with on hire from on is scary. Needs to be a single purchasing body for the NHS as that's a mess too, we already do this especially for schools with organisations like ESPO so there's huge cost saving implications in that high is the restructuring that Cameron should have gone for especially to eliminate the post code lottery instead of the stupid waste of money they implemented.
This is the real reason for enforced austerity & what the ulterior motives are for Greece http://www.independent.co.uk/voices...ed-to-profithungry-corporations-10452068.html Just unbelievable, hand over all your assets to a 3rd party to be flogged off (at bargain rates no doubt) to the filthy rich, hedge funds, tax avoiders etc Just beggars belief, politicians don't run the world corporations & the rich do
While that is correct Corbyn isn't going to be in a position to do anything about it. What he will do is hand Gideon the reins until at least 2030. Having said that none of the others can win next time. It needs a team as canny as Blair/Campbell to outwit the bar stewards.
I'm glad I stayed away from this except at the beginning. Some crazy things being written on the this thread.
