Usual Tory lies. Now multiplying Labour's spending plans by five and implying the total cost of £3000 is per year.
Generous welfare systems actually make people more keen to work, Europe-wide study finds http://www.independent.co.uk/news/w...-to-work-europewide-study-finds-10144712.html
I saw in today's news that binge drinking costs the country £4 Billion. If we can reduce that, then there would be scope for fewer welfare cuts!!!
So basically if us drinkers stopped altogether the government would be billions out of pocket and there would have to be cuts to the NHS and welfare
Yep! and when you factor in the welfare/pensions saving the government makes from people dying earlier due to alcohol, even with the NHS costs it's cheaper...
http://www.theguardian.com/business...ctivity-growth-is-weakest-since-wwii-says-ons UK productivity growth is weakest since second world war, says ONS As data shows 0.2% drop in output, two-thirds of leading UK economists say coalition austerity had been bad for the economy "The ONS said that despite Britain’s poor productivity, businesses were keeping their costs in check by keeping a lid on their wage bills." That is the real reason that 100 business leaders want to keep Conservatives in government.
VERY interesting statement JK and I'm sure we'll see many more such claims and counter claims in the next 5 weeks. I'll be glad when it's all over, but I have a feeling that it will be so close that it could be the start of a lot of wrangling etc in the weeks after May 7th!!!!
Off topic but this the only thread I can link too, are we really playing Brighton on Good Friday afternoon?
Yes, but if you can, watch the matches later in the day - Ipswich V Bournemouth 17:15 and Derby V Watford Fri 3 Apr 19:45 Edit - both on Sky Sorts 1. Looks like I'll HAVE to go to the Murderers for late afternoon/evening then!!!!
Labour and a Lib Dem or Green coalition would be the best outcome (Of the likely outcomes) in my opinion.
