This is exactly the nonsense that I was referring to. I sit in the VR end, not upper rous, but what does it matter if I did. Basically, who are you to tell me how or when I should support my team, or whether I should or not? I have been supporting home and away for over 40 years, and I have every right to support the team however I like! In fact, why should you tell me what hobbies I have and enjoy. Incredible!
    PS I am working class.....

Er - no it wasn't. Football in its various guises has been around for centuries - as this artwork from Ancient Greek pottery shows 170px-Ancient_Greek_Football_Player.jpg

These forms were all codified in the early 1800's by teachers and pupils from English Public Schools, such as Eton, Harrow and Winchester -including the game as we know it today. Hardly working class at all.

End of the day a little research is advisable.

1863 was the meeting at the Freemasons tavern where rules, based on the Cambridge rules were agreed. The debate over "hacking" was a couple of years later. All about Thomas Arnold and the Cult of Games.
Those were the days eh Bolton....!!!!
