I saw this piece earlier. Even if Spurs are offered crazy high prices - is there really any point in selling?
IF i were Daniel Levy i would now be calling Real Madrids bluff. Levy should go public and demand £100m in full now for Bale. I dont see Bale being as good again or being talked about like he is now again. Spurs should cash in now whilst they can. imo.
If they don't sell I'll be amazed. Even if you really really wanna keep him you need to realise that he probably won't have a similar season to last season, especially if he is denied a move and he wanted to go. I can see them holding firm to get as much as possible and him signing in the last remaining days of the transfer window.
That article makes a good point. There are very few players better than Bale so regardless of the fee, who are they going to get who will make the deal worthwhie?
Spurs didn't qualify for the CL with Bale playing fantastically well for them. They obviously need a few players to get back into the top 4. Bringing in over £85m would enable them to bring in several great players, which may see them overtake Arsenal. It is too big a sum to turn down.
Those three would all cost more now though. They were all signed from relatively small foreign clubs. Tottenham would have to gamble that money on more foreign imports and hope they succeeded like the Chelsea three did. Not sure it'd be worth losing one of the world's top players for. I think it will come down to if he wants to leave enough to try and force it through.
The problem Spurs will have if they sell for £85m+ is any player there interested in will increase in value
