You mean almost impossible is more difficult to attain than a miracle? So we're only the worst team statistically but the fact that we're not the worst team on paper too makes the task more difficult? So if our form doesn't improve then it's hard to see our form improving? What do you mean this only goes as far down as "poor" - I want the anti Spinal Tap one - "This one goes all the way down to -1!"
People keep going on about the "Magic 40 point" mark and yes, usually 40 points is enough to stay up but that doesn't necessarily mean that we have to reach that mark to stay up. Look at the other teams that could possibly be in a relegation battle and how many points they are above us. There is no reason that with 24 games and 72 points left to play for that we can't get: 5 more points than Reading (2 if we beat them) 8 more points than Southampton (5 if we beat them) 9 more points than Aston Villa (possibly 6 after tomorrow) 9 more points than Sunderland (6 if we beat them at home) 10 more points than Wigan (4 if we beat them home and away) 10 more points than Newcastle 12 more points than Norwich (9 if beat them at home) 13 more points than Fulham 15 more points than West Ham 15 more points than Stoke 16 more points than Swansea I'm not saying we aren't in the shi7, no denying that we are but looking at the table above it certainly isn't impossible, we have only got to catch 3 of those teams, no more, no less and we're safe. I honestly believe that with Harry in charge you will see a team playing with much more confidence, there was already evidence of it on Tuesday. We just need a win, if we get it tomorrow then I it's conceivable that we will pick up 9 or 10 points from the following 5 games and then we'd be in a much healthier position. My only concern is that January is a tough, tough, month for us so I think we need to be in touch with 17th place by the end of December.
Think we can catch Reading over the rest of the season although the amount of "we really need to win this one or we'll be fooked" games have probably run out after this w/e.....also there is normally someone who plummets down the table in the new year altho last year the 3 that went down and us were pretty much there all the time. Wigan (& to a lesser extent us) performed the role of the no hoper who suddenly go on an amazing run to safety. Momentum is a huge thing especially heading into December / Xmas programme so a win tomorrow would mean so much more than just 3 points - the players will really start to believe in HR and the whole place will get a lift. I can't even contemplate the prospect of losing right now so as long as SWP and Ferdy are no where near the first team I have to stay positive!! Ok time for a cup of earl grey and a biscuit - its 3.30 here in Toronto, dark and cold outside and snow on the way......happy days!!
"On the basis of what I have seen of Rangers this year I cannot see them being out of the relegation zone before the new year and then they are in trouble." why do i get the feeling he's probably seen us once? I've watched us all season and it was only til Southampton that i really thought....f*ck... we are pony. Having said that, i can't really argue with the overall sentiment at the moment.
People never learn. After: Bradford 1999/00, WBA 04/05, Portsmouth 05/06, West Ham 06/07, Fulham 07/08 and even Wigan last tear it's quite surprising people are quick to write anybody off at this stage. Remember Wigan lost EIGHT games in a row last year. A win puts QPR right back in the mix. Silly for anybody to dismiss them at this stage.
