APART from the fact we need to shore up our defence and drop Cooper who is responsible for 2 goals given away in the last 2 matches (penalty against everton given away and header to centre of our area against burnley for them to score ) and who knows how many mistakes he made against man utd . Daniel James He is not worth 25m , his stats are not good enough , I would pay no more than 15m in fact his worth is probably 12m - 15m , put the offer of 12m in if man utd reject it SO WHAT , man utd don't want him so they will come back to leeds and ask us to pay abit more knowing that the transfer market is closing then I would cheerily put a bid of 13.5m and say take it or leave it mam utd will come back and accept it. His stats are below WHATS YOUR THOUGHTS ON IT? Daniel James https://g.co/kgs/FvL82p
Your obsession with Cooper is tedious, you cover this in the last thread you started and there's already a Daniel James thread.
No 2 things wrong 1.my thread is about the actual cost we are paying for him , he is not worth 25m we are paying over the odds , Leeds could have saved millions and bought him cheaper man u are desperate to sell him as window closes , and we need to sort our defence out , not buy another winger , Also it's not obsession with Cooper I have laid bare the truth he has messed up in last 2 matches giving away 2 goals and I never saw him prominent in the man u debacle in fact he went missing , everyone Is entitled to their view and mine as well as many others is he should be sold or dropped .
You are right you are entitled to your view. Yet The actual cost has been mentioned and debated on the original thread and even if it hadn't been you could have added to it. Your 'opinion' on Cooper you have mentioned on your last 2 posts on your other thread.
There's a broad swathe of views on Cooper, but you seem to be on the extreme periphery of reason. Are you telling us that you know better than every manager who has had no hesitation in considering him first choice? Probably ..... Has it ever occurred to you that when you mention specific incidents, you don't seem to think it through & assess whether your favoured replacement for him could do any better? Nope, didn't think so - just an assumption that someone else could do better. OK, so tell us who should replace Cooper, and why? Can't wait.
I'm asking myself this question; Would any other PL team sign Coops ? Of course they wouldn't but an ambituous Championship club might and hopefully he'd relish the challenge. The future is Struijk or the young lad just signed from Celtic.
Easy Koch, cresswell or struyk ,Skriniar of inter Milan, Almeria Laporte of man city although he would be expensive , they are all better than Cooper, and the reason because none of them has gave away a penalty or make schoolboy errors heading the ball into middle of our area the danger zone when clearing the ball and panicked this season under pressure like cooper.
It does not matter if I done other posts about Cooper he continually gets mentioned on posts through his disastrous defending every season costing leeds points so to not do a new post about him is letting him off the hook and not highlighting problems in our goal conceding defence.
Marquinhos also is a good defender Paris st Germain now that's what I call a captain , not uninspiring Cooper ha ha LOL
Very true Cooper is championship standard because if you make a mistake there he can get away with it , like he did for seasons when we was there , BUT the premier league is a different animal he needs to step aside this is why we signed the celtic player Leo hjelde not only is he future but should get some games in cooper's place along with the others I have mentioned.
Cooper has improved every season we have had him. He has made the step up from league one to championship to Premier league with the club and with the added pressure of captain, a role given to him by the other players. The faith they must have in him to do this season after season speaks volumes. There have always been errors in his game but the lady couple of years they are becoming less. However the issue in the Premier league has been that when he does make a mistake now it always seems to be a significant one ie pen against Everton this season or Red against Man City last. I will come back to those in a moment. Hidden between these mistakes last season were consistent good understated performances where his stats showed him to be our best defender more often than not. He made the Premier league team of the week seven weeks in a row. League one Liam doesn't do that. But back to the mistakes. Yes the mistakes are still in him and I've no doubt there will be another. The worse things about these mistakes for me isn't the goals it might cost us but the fact that it gives his naysayers the opportunity to jump on him and call for his head and a reason to ignore all the good stuff. I like Struijk and he most certainly is the future of the centre of our defence. But I think he knows he will play a bit part, despite starting every game so far, this season behind Cooper who as the older player is probably looking at his last season as first choice. Struijk will know if he continues to do what he is doing and also improve them next season he will be first choice. Cooper has been a great servant to this club. He was the team captain that got us back to the premier league. As I have said to the people slagging off Costa, he should always be remembered fondly for this and welcomed by the club and fans. Now I know I've wasted five minutes of my time writing this as it will not dent the resolve of those who have decided to hate on Cooper no matter what. MOT hey?
So if the problem is so obvious, we should really get rid of this Bielsa guy, eh? Clearly doesn't know as much as you. Probably that's why we got rid of our previous managers that made Cooper their first choice - they didn't agree with you, the great football Oracle, so they had to go! Pilllock!
Liam Cooper is an absolute club legend. One of those players that will be appreciated more in years to come when the dust has settled on his career.
Eventually it will be obvious , why don't you put a poll up post a new blog and we can vote how many say Cooper should be dropped and not be captain ? It's obvious why you want Cooper in with scotties sticking together and not actually seeing his mistakes
So pray tell me why Leeds have got the 3rd worst defence in the premier league in the 3 games we played and Cooper has played and captained in all of them ? With only Norwich and arsenal having a worst defence , and Cooper being the cause of 2 of the 8 goals against with his mistakes and probably more as I'm not even including the man utd debarkle , where did Cooper go in that game with his improvement ? It's no secret why tottenham are top they have not conceded a goal , does anything ring a bell here ?
Wish the dust would settle somewhere in the Sahara desert where it can't give penalties away ha ha LOL
Make your own mind up on it here is a video of Cooper giving away a penalty . As you can see Cooper should be goal side of the attacker but let's the attacker get goal side so fouls by pulling his shirt and thus gives away a penalty.
I don't think anyone is disagreeing at all that Cooper got his positioning wrong in the Everton game. Funnily enough I also don't think WJ needs to post a poll as you suggested, because I don't see many posts in this thread stating that they agree with your opinion, but I do see 4 posters who disagree with you. That suggests that the majority of posters on here , even those who would prefer someone else at centre half other than Cooper, are not convinced enough by your arguments to even make a one worded response to your thread saying "agree" or even press the "like" button.
